get a compression test. if the guy did a head gasket job did he checked if theres are any cracks on the heads... most likely the engine is cooked or the heads are cracked by now?

installed these once or twice or maybe three or four times, most of the cars was auto family car and one mitsi evo1 ages ago never had any problem with it.

this model is probably the easiest to convert (back) to single turbo

it kinda have a v1/2 style heads on it though...
