Thanks Marc. The EJ207 blocks been bored 0.25 oversize, so guessing standard 0.25 oversized version 8 STI pistons should be pretty close?

Bore size doesn't change between V7 AND V8, just the V8 hypereuthectic have smaller PTW clearance.

Not all .25 over pistons are exactly the same size hence why when a block is bored the new pistons are numbered to the bores as the bores have been machied for that exact piston! Thats if your building a motor properly. Wont matter too much in somthing like yours. If you get a brand new set of 4 pistons it is quite common to have a little difference! wont go into detail but subaru has a similar process with their stock piston grading.

    Cheers

Crank is good. I've been in touch with the engine builder and have some version 8 STI hypereutetic pistons and rings on the way to fix the mix up.

Would be nice to have measured piston to bore clearnces but ohwell lol. Least that saves a flawed for strength motor before it got driven on. Hope u get it sorted man :).

Downpipe arrived. Heatwrapped it.. still waiting for that to dry.

In the mean time, took off midpipe. Got all but one bolt off the turbo heat shield - it\'s a tight fit in there! Gonna have to find a tiny 10mm spanner to get it out.

Can\'t wait to get this downpipe installed!

They make abit of difference but not as much as the older ones as the ver8 is bell mouth design from factory but will sound nice and go a touch better ;)

No Prob, Just clicked I didnt include the mani bolts as you might need the stupid long things lol. Let me know if u need them :)

Hmm yeah I will need them. do you have any GDB head breather hoses for TMIC I can buy, then throw the bolts in with them in with them?

I do but they are a big array of crap unlike the older ones. (they run thru the injector sheilding plates -which i have too but no1 bothers fitting them on modded stuff as they just get in the way)

Id just use push lock hose and a T fitting. (can be done neatly and come with most turbosmart Bolt on BOV kits as they dont clear the breather hardpipe) You running V7 type heads or v5/6 type heads?

With meth/no nos on that car I believe it was some where round the 350wkw mark. It was a TD06 wheel not TD06H iirc but def a 6 variant not 5. More displacement etc but shows as a package things can be achieved if the stars line up. Bolting on the worlds best turbo alone means nothing.

    [quote name='sl8r said:

Got it back from tuner, made a total of 298.5 kw at the wheels on 27psi. Drive home was fun, hadn\'t driven it for over ten months........ So much had changed and I\'d forgotten a few things.

    /quote]

    What turbos was that?

Yeah says 345 with no nos but doesnt mention no water meth at that power..

either way as I said that particular car is a good combo but not really applicable to the Kinugawa version in this thread.

Getting abit off topic now haha :D

either way small exh wheel with a big comp wheel is a flop in this application...

    /quote]

have been saying this for a few years now.

Yep always been a relitive rule of thumb...

Some applications have more leway then others but Subaru if any is going to let you know if theres a problem no questions there lol ;)

Good to have some added proof tho and thats why i thought well see what happens and test some more..

Is it just me or is everyone forgetting that yellow coupe was running nos? Lol. I ran his old gearbox for abit..

And the 60-1 doesn\'t work well with a small exhaust wheel or the sl2 or tdo5h which KINUGAWA offer, Steves one would have had a full size TDO6 exh wheel in there..

    /quote]

    Nos and meth wasnt it?

I remember the TD06 spence got off you had been dropped back to a 20g due to not working and steve did that.

Yep both and there you go Nitrous foggers (lol so whole thread debate becomes semi pointless????!!).. I doubt it had a TD05H sized exhaust wheel in that housing.. No doubt that car was a great package just not bolt on etc as Kris is trying to find ect. There is options out there and Steve is a good option but asking that from a stock location turbo without some real other fuel/engine majic will be hard...

    Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STI-Coupe-eng.jpg

Yep thats right so thats REAL WORLD experence on a REAL DYNAPACK says that kinugawa combo is flawd on a 2.0L lol. Other contributing factors within the turbo but either way small exh wheel with a big comp wheel is a flop in this application...

Wow, that just contradicts what ive been told from the driven performance guys.

They run a TD06SL2 18G on their race car making 300kw (cannot verify atw or flywheel). Most likely talking about atw because no one talks about flywheel power. Marketing their products with false claims >:(

Minaj cracked 270kw with the same 20g on GCP

    My supporting mods are

    Cosworth 272 Cams

    AEM water/meth injection

    860cc Inj

    FMIC

    Turbo back exhaust

    Walbro

    GFB EBC

    H/D Clutch

What are the alternatives to the kinugawa turbos? I prefer stock location units.

This is going to be one of thoes pointless debates lol :D.

The 20G is not a bad turbo but honestly they stretch to make a genuine 260wkw. Without power adders (then this whole thread goes on another angle)

Minaj\'s cars majic tho and so is some of the results ove seen from the GCP dyno ???

    Cant help much there :).

Ring some people like E&H or Torque and ask them their thoughts on the turbos/setup...

The cams and water meth well help you but thats a big ask for a 20G IMO and will struggle dyno dependant.

  12. Ill be up front here and others and share (dont usually bother on here) but i will save u the hastle.

None of thoes will get you 280-300wkw (thats if you were talking wheel in the original description) if you run E85 and head work you may get there but otherwise you want another turbo selection.

The 60-1 setup on their turbos is abit of a flop. The compressor wheel is too big for their matched turbine wheel IMO.

    Hopfully that helps...

Lol I never look apart from refilling the intercooler spray and checking the oil etc... was bored thought I\'d have a look and thought theres no harm in asking! And thanks :D

I would say 98% of that is from your AVCS advance sensors leaking oil. Not a major and can be fixed if you feel like being nice and spending a few $..

    Cheers

Can\'t really tell from pics either but isn\'t a v5 spoiler as apposed to v6? Can\'t see the lip. Good looking car tho I like the bumper

Eric on here who bought one of my old V5 Type R\'s (gun metal grey one) swapped a perfectly mint V5 STI front bumper for the 22b type one he had like a week after he got the car off me lol so yeah personl preference is where its at I say :D.

Spoiler on the blue one def looks V5 from that pic but yeah hard so see. - stuff all difference between v5/6 anyway so I wouldnt worry/care :)
