  1. Ver8 had dccd and abs in the jdm stuff for sure only the Singapore (sometimes the cheep ones but not aways lol) had no dccd in the ve8 STI to my knowledge. You can swap the steering wheel but I think the 8 one is nicer then the 7 and also better then the 9/10. Personal preference tho :D.

7s are cheep and bang for buck with 100+ to choose from at any point in time... Not so much the same with the 8s if your looking for a specific colour etc makes things harder and can blow the "5k" difference into "8k" in no time if you get what I mean

Partner and I have had ours coming up 6 years as well as v7 sti\'s at the same time and really like both but all day the dash and bigger seats in the 8 are nice and more modern look especially the tail lights with partial clear lense etc.

Yes the 7 engines are tough but its not all in the pistons, the ver8 has a better crank then 99% of the v7 sits out there and proven the 8 pistons are tough as just don\'t like sloppy maps with any det.

Just comes down to budget mainly as u could do a fair amount with 5+k elsewhere (not necessarily on the car hahaha ::)) and then yeah what YOU like the look of the best etc.

The 8 is a lot more lively to drive from stock I will say that tho

    :\'( :\'(

Ive owned DCCD Subarus for about 8 years now, spencers learning what can and cant be done the hard way :\'(, I had my older brother to thank to watch and learn that sort of antics from so I learnt pretty quick ;D.

Thanks Spence hard to tell what it sounds like from inside! kinda weird tone and will do a couple gears one day in a suitable area + get the mrs to drive it away from me one day so i can hear lol :P.

Water injection? I find waters pretty plentiful most places have it :P

Definitly a vilid thought and iv been keen on it for a while, will see how i go without for now as that would be ideal for me but as a last resort that probably is the plan. Dyno time isant cheep but its good for seeing real progress without track days being held on demand (would be nice haha) as on the road if it gets hot u got problems because you cant even stretch one gear let alone 4th legitimatly and altho it is a road car it needs to be able to take sustaind abuse when required if I do attend a track day or 2.

Careful with that DCCD Spence will tell you about that...prob has Id guess.

Good result tho are you tuning yourself?

If it had pistons id give it a go but sitting this one out as I dont overly feel like fixing things at this time of year :-\.

Still waiting to take it for a propper drive but its back in the shed trying to come up with my solution to heat >:(. E85 would be soo good right now but cant do my 6 hour road trips back home on that nor purchase it there lol

Very respectable result, must be killer

Yeah wasnt being pushed too hard timing or boost wise so am happy, rather not lean too hard on my cast pistons at 102Deg coolant temp by the end of a couple runs :-X, aircon condenser in my way need to sort some ducting/better fans etc and sort my airbox abit nicer. Could have dropped some boost and still made the same power with some timing but my wastegate spring was 18psi ::).

Goes good enough to put the DCCD to use :-*

    Dinner will be served ;D

    Well done MB.!

heard hes running a td04 with gc8 top mount making 170kw unless he wants to prove me wronng with a pic haha :P

You guys heard that too? Gee word gets around quick

    :P

Hard lol. 270wkw odd at 18psi pretty conservitive for now then will push it some more when I get it to stay abit cooler on the dyno with some more R&D still seeing what works and what doesnt for my own knowledge without going by others cars etc. Not too bad for a daily late model tank with A/C and all atleast :)

  7. Will be good to see A Subaru there lol. Last session there wasnt even one in the non caged cars feild aka "street cars" and only one in the caged "race cars". Ill be there again no doubt :).

A while back I ran my old GC8 there with a healthy motor and stock sump... Just on road rubber and took it easy on the one RH sweeper other then that its still going 3 years later at decent power too ;D.

    dahahahah

    VW Golf GTi

Don\'t think 18k will be enough for a Focus XR5 (too new), but they are next best thing to a Golf GTi

    I reckon if I wasn\'t so into Subaru\'s.. that\'s what I\'d get

    EDIT: One like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/volkswagen/golf/auction-646692533.htm

But most of the later model / lower km ones start at around the 20k mark

Thats what the mrs wants :D, none the less not bad cars if theyr looked after..

Then again what the hell.. I drive a honda :D
