I dunno, ill give it a week to decide, will really come down to cost. See what a rebuild is going to end up at, take it off the road for 6months and worry about it then while buying a daily, or flick a second hand engine in, get the panels fixed and flick it off. I dont really have the money to do much with it now.
Its just that as of right now it aint worth anything, but do i want to spend 5-6k fixing it up again.

Idiot? get fucked, my re11 road tires only have ~3mm of tread, the semis had 5mm or more so regardless of compund they looked like they were a better bet, i hit a bit of standing water coming onto the corner, ran wide onto the white line and it was all over. It could have happened on any tires, which in fact it did about 1 minute later on the next corner where a 300zx on road tires hit the wall. And then an mx5 race car an hour later. Its a corner i normally do flat out in 3rd, this time i was feathering the throttle in 4th to limit wheelspin.
So 3 cars in the wall in 1 hour, more than the total number of crashes combined we have had in 15 prior trackdays. And all 3 were quite experienced people on the tack.
Also after looking at my onboard video it seems my bearings let go coming into the final sweeper at taupo, they sound find leading up to the corner but pretty rough exciting it again. Seems a bit odd.

No idea, might have been unrelated. The track was a lake so couldn\'t have been due to high gforces. I guess now to decide whether ot rebuild, or swap in second hand motor, fix panels and sell it.

Trackday yesterday.
Did this n lap 1, aquaplaned at the sweeping left hander at taupo, turn 9? went round backwards and into the wall. Doesnt look too bad in pic but the panel alignment is on some pretty good angles and a bend inside the boot.
Went out again and hour or so later, BEB.
Ended up doing 4 laps in total.

You mean passengers dont normally play along to metallica as they ride along?
Its strapped in pretty tight, safety first

Filled car up with tools, tyres, a mates twin speaker guitar amp and other bits I need to head off to taupo tomorrow for trackday on friday.
-
Just trackdays at the moment, would love to do some autocross sometime.
-
Tightened up BOV in the hope itll stop it from nearly stalling every time I stop. Also finsihed basic DIY water sprayer setup. So all ready for trackday, time to put car in inflatable safety bubble for 5 days so nothing happens to it.

My rs29 pagids are annoyingly squeely. My neighbor commented on it when i was coming down the drive. "but but... race car" Ill take them out for winter I think after trackday, they really are a bit s*** as a daily driver pad.
Speaking of trackday, finally getting near the end of prep for next week. Made bracket to hold fire extinguisher, hopefully wont need it

That shouldn\'t happen at all, something is wrong there.

oh, then do you have cheap/stretched tyres? I had a porsche try and late brake pass me at hampton downs causing me to smash the brakes as hard as I could from 200kph and no lockup with ABS, just a shuddering feeling as the ABS did its thing. The only time ive locked up as such was sliding around in a carpark in the snow, ABS and snow dont mix well Unless your ABS sensor is bung?
-
Oh no doubt, ABS on the road for panic situations is a life saver, however on the track where you know exactly where you are braking, it seems a bit redundant. I really just want to see the difference.
-
Had a spacer thing made up for the MCB, since It didnt come with the factory one.
-
I will see how it goes without, but im finding im relying on it too much unintentionally and its harder to find the limit of braking compared to my last car. If its just a plug then its not hard to plug it back in again.
-
Oh yeah will take it easy in the morning as itll be my first time on semi slicks as well, THe other 4 trackdays Ive done have just been on RE11 road tires. My last car didnt have ABS at all, which i never had an issue with locking brakes in 7 or so trackdays (besides spinning off the track), but it was only a little 4age levin with single pot fronts on road tyres, so a little bit different braking/VMAX ability.
-
Trackday in 2 weeks, how do i disconnect the abs? I know there are two fuses? but ive also read one of them is tied into the power assisted brakes or something? gc8 v6. I think the ABS might be one of the reasons for my rotors overheating, plus now with semi slicks I can see it cutting in too early.

Its just my track rims, more for the hilarity of beating my mates, imagine the shame of being beaten by a car with pink wheels. I cant see the pink from inside the car ^__^
Except the logo on the tacho..
-
Pink, the top pick seems ot have gone strange colour. Might get a single can of a more fluro pink to do one top coat over to brighten them up a bit.
-
No, this is photoshop.
The others are actually paint. My track rims.
-
Started painting.
-
Its actually just a photoshop before I bought the paint, but pretty much what I want them to look like. They are achillies 123s, but only 205/40/17s, hence the tiny size. Got them and the rims for 700$, and the tires have heaps of tread on them which seemed liek a good deal. Will mean my re-11 road tyres will last another 6 months or so instead of ending them at trackday. Never driven on semis before so will be good to see how they go.
And yeah, the wheels are actually lettered so I cant cock up which goes where it was just the only one that isnt primered completely yet.
-
test fit of my new track rims/tires, really need some new springs i think...
-
Bought cheap track wheels with semis, in average condition so decided to try tidy them up. Gave up trying to sand out the curbs, lack of fucks given, so will just rely on primer/paint. Now need to decide on what colour to paint them, there needs to be pink somewhere for troll factor. Was originally looking at plastidip, but apparently doesnt hold up too well with heat and brake dust.
