  1. I think my car is just trolling me, I pulled the headunit out to check, everything seems normal, taped the wires together to tide the birds nest up a bit, put it all back together, checked the fuse and it didnt pop Also now my interior lights are wiring, they haven't worked since I bought the car. While I was doing the other stuff i decided ot pull the bulbs out as I assumed they were blown, as no other fuses in the car were blowing, and the one that's been blowing has only done it a week, not the 3 months the lights havnt worked. Checked the bulbs and they seemed fine, tried the button and they worked :|

Be careful when the fuse pops because your alternator won't be charging the battery due to not being able to contact the check alternator light, or something

Really? D: ive done about 100kms of driving since it popped, and am going to hamilton next weekend.

  3. Hmm good info, im looking at travelling round the south island, especially the west coast and was a bit alarmed in what to do in regards to petrol. Car is stock less the exhaust so i guess I shoudl be ok using 95/96 with maybe some octane boost if i get in trouble, was hoping to not have to take a 20L jerry can if i could help it but looks like it might be easier.

Also ona side note, gc8 normal sti, is it a 50 or 60L tank? im always too scared to go past 3/4 empty due to lack of fuel light which i think was around 45L.

  4. Mostly stock v6 sti insured for 12k. 25yo witha few speeding tickets and stuff, nothing major. Excess for over 25s is $1500 i think, under 25s +$300.

Think its a little over 90$ a month through albany insurance, went up 16$ or so when I got under 25s added on.

  5. Yeah sounds good, granted 7 of the trackdays i did were in a 4age trueno which are basically bulletproof so i never had any worries, and the two in the rex have been in winter. I found the brakes held out fine in the suby, but as you say engine/oil temps might be a bit more of a worry, specially as I don't have any gauges or anything currently to monitor it. Should have a basic data logging setup next time to at least give me a bit or warning.

The worst thing though is 'racing' your mates there, as 3 laps goes by too fast and the last thing you want to do is back off for a lap haha.

at the track day - limit sessions to 3ish hot laps at a time.

12 lap stint at the end of the day at hamptons was the end of my rotors >_< were fine beforehand, major brake shudder afterwards.

Is it really only recommended to do 3 hot laps? or just an extra precaution. The open days ive attended have usually been 5 hot + 1 cool down/warmup lap. Cars basically stock.
