  1. Yeah I just want something reliable we can beat on all day with no drama, and if something breaks its cheap to replace. I got 5 trackdays out of my wrx so it still did have a good run. Its actually heaps of fun to drive as well, same sensation of fun and speed doing 70-100kph than i got in the wrx doing 150..

My boss has a turbo one making 260ish hp@wheels and races in the jap classic series, my old boss has an ls1 in his, so im in good company if i want more power...

  2. Half cage, semi slicks, race seats/belts, decent pads, then just doing as many trackdays as I can and beat on it without a worry, something I couldnt do in my wrx. Wouldnt mind giving 2kcup a go as well. Its "gay as ****" but actually pretty fun to drive, just needs an extra 50hp as the 1.6L 115hp is a bit underpowering. It feels faster than it is though. Just bought it going halves with the other half as a cheap track hack that she can also drive as well, sif give her the keys to the wrx :P.

Ill be buying a 3.0r wagon eventually so keeping in the boxer club.

  3. Went to trackday, car ran pretty well mint except for a bit of powersteering fluid doing wees in the engine bay, and a slight leak from the coolant overflow. Oh and cracking rotor number 4 now. But besides that it held up well for its first trackday since blowing it up and crashing it a year ago, so much more of a positive day. Semi slicks are so hax.

If you want penrite just buy the repco branded equivalent. Same oil just cheaper.

Unrelated but you know big dave ae adam? Was talking subaru and your name came up lol.

I know of him, he hooked me up with bendix pads once, hes not a fan of me any more you could say, though you probably already got that :P

THough I didnt think repco did a full synth of their own brand, I only got the penrite at SCE 30% off sale so was only $50 or so.

  6. Any idea on cost of the parts or part numbers? mechanics next door to my work quoted ~450inc gst for the labour, sound about right? Ill get them to see what the whole job will cost, i had sorta guess I wouldn't get much change from a grand.. Also might get them to look at the jumping out of 5th gear selector shaft bolt thing as well while its out.

  7. Found out I might need a new clutch >__< WOnder if something in my hearbox is playing up to wear it out, when marc put the new engine in he reckoned it still had a bit of meat left that shoudl last me a while, but it seems that sometimes in 4th or 5th gear if i put my foot down from 2500 rpm, when the turbo spools to full boost a little after 3k it either hesitates or goes up 500rpm then back down to normal and pulls normally.
