  1. Yea, had a wee read about the emission codes, and the change of law from 2012. I'm guessing, only the Hawkeyes will have the only chance of the 3 digit emission code. I've been using CarWebs, to view and potentially import the car through. On their FAQ section, they state about the compliance of vehicles and how they guarantee that every vehicle listed will be complied, at their cost. Will the exhaust emissions fall under this?

    '-

At Carwebs we guarantee the compliance of your car. We have robust check systems in place to ensure that any car you import through us is compliable under New Zealand standards. If, however, your car arrives and it does not pass the compliance test, we will cover the costs needed to get it up to the condition for it to pass the compliance WOF test. The only thing we don’t cover is the cost of new tires, batteries and brake pads/rotors. however we can source these for you at wholesale prices.' - http://carwebs.co.nz/faqs/

The other question I had in regards to the emission codes, is the where I can read this on the non-translated auction information sheet.

Thanks once again. I know it is probably going to end up at a dead end, but I'm wanting to import something with low Kms, that I can start from fresh. I understand, that won't be a good enough reason for the exemption of compliance either hah.

  2. Hey team, I've a question for you lot.

I've been looking at importing for some time now, and have done an extensive amount of research around the processes of it. I'm wanting to import a 01-06 STI, knowing that it isn't going to be able to comply to the exhaust emission standards. I contacted NZTA regarding this, enquiring if there was a way to get the exhaust certified or anything like to get it legal on the roads. Well, two weeks later, I finally heard back from them. They gave me two options:

    - Contact Subaru NZ and find out, if the emissions in fact, won't comply. If otherwise, it can be used as proof to gain compliance

    - Fill an application for exemption regarding exhaust emission compliance, then supplied me with this form: http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/32862/VCUEF-11-Application-for-exemption-from-land-transport-Rules.pdf

I'm curious if there is anyone here (or know of anyone), that has applied for exemption of exhaust emissions. I mainly just want to know what of the chances of it being granted, as I wouldn't want to be left with a lemon when it arrives. I understand that, the chances of the progress playing out as I would like it to, are very slim, but I can't really ideally see anything for sale that I'm wanting in NZ.

If there is anyone here that could be of help, I'd love to hear from you - can supply the full email they sent to me aswell.

    Thanks a lot in advance

  3. I'm pretty sure the horror stories you hear about the B4 models, is that the owners think they are WRX' - or 10 second monsters. I've had my Rev-D for coming up three years and it's never skipped a beat. Nice car to drive, still having the power and sound of a performance Subaru. Treat it right, and maintain it properly and you'll have yourself a good experience.

  4. Hey there team,

Not too sure if there was a photography section in the forum - not that I could see anyway. Pretty much what the topic says, looking for areas within the Canterbury region where I can take some photos with my B4. Throw any suggestions out there that you may have, can be either urban or rural areas. I'll take some photos and post them here on where I end up taking a few.

    Thanks

  5. Hey there team, wee question for you all. Thinking about getting my wheels powder coated in a Gloss Black, plasti dipped them - But I think the 5 coats I put on them wasn't enough and peeling it off, is a complete struggle. Has anyone got any techniques how to get it off easier? Wanting to know a place where I can get the powder coating done/ average price I'd be looking at for a set?

    Thanks.

  6. Hey all, I managed to pick myself a set of monsoons for my BE Rev-D. Got them for a steal, only paid $20.

I previously had a set on my car, but an incident with stepping into a gutter, led to breaking them.

What my question is, what stuff should I use as a glue for them? I was given clips with them.

    Thanks all.

  7. Nah, it's got an AVS 4 star. Unsure of the model number. Rang the auto electricians, they were saying it seems to be a common thing with Subaru's using AVS. It most likely needs the remote to be reprogrammed, hopefully it isn't going to be something too expensive.

  8. Hey all, came across some problems with my 2002 BE5 immobiliser today. Went to go turn the car on tonight, had power going through to the car, but the immobiliser has completely disarmed the car. I originally thought that it was problems with the battery, so went about getting a mate to give a jump start. Still nothing. Disconnected the battery, waited a wee while and managed to somehow disarm the immobiliser.

I've come across a quick fix to the situation by setting the alarm off and cancelling it. Only problem with this, is that I can't arm the alarm, or lock via the central locking. Was just wanting to know if anyone has any idea as to what's the problem with it/ or is there anyone that could provide some assistance?

    Thanks all.

  9. So, I\'m currently running the standard TT set up for my BE Rev-D. The top mount in my engine bay, is getting a bit old, and hasn\'t been replaced at all. What I was wanting to know is, what advantages would I get from running a FMIC set up? I\'ve come across this here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=702499868 Total price for the FMIC is $550. What kind of price would I be looking at for installation?

The other thing I was looking at was strut braces for the car. How big of a difference does it make having them? I\'ve found Rear Tower and Lower body braces.

    Lower: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=702236756

    Rear: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=702236757

I see the rear shock is pretty self-explanatory, as for the Lower body brace - is there anything else needed for the install/ is there a guide for where it is bolted in to?

Thanks, still trying to find my way around my Suby, and doing some DIY on it.

  10. Yea, shifter boot. Here\'s a couple of photos:

    What I currently have:

What I\'m wanting to put on:

    photo3.jpg

The clips that I\'ve been struggling with trying to remove:

    photo4.jpg

There\'s about 8 of those clips in total. They have a one directional stopping lock on it, so you can put it on with ease, but no remove it as easy. Thanks.
