  1. iv had two different ones in my old SF5, first was a HKS one with the proper mounting brackets, super loud, got annoying after a while. It didnt fit with my front mount pipes so got a Simota branded one. like the guy before i never got around to making a box, had good intentions but im just lazy. Didnt notice any power difference at all . .

yo bro it wont spike dont have to change anything else like wastegates and the likes..

initially it will have a spike or 2 but settle to a pound or so within factory boost and give u no trouble but just a whole better turbi rush

the new gen ecu can conteol boost a fair bit better then the older ones so in summary - get the pipe and dont wirry abt the spike etc as the ecu will sort the biist very nicely

PS done that a few times in few new gen turbos and they were all very good

cheers bro, thanks for an answer. iv got my ecu-remapped with ecu-tek and will look at getting it redone once i get a few more mods.

problem with this forum, people get off topic pretty fast and in the end generally know one really knows

Does anyone know what GOOD QUALITY adjustables will fit an '04 STI? ( Note 'good quality"... so that rules out s***e like BC's ). I've got a friend who can get me some direct from Japan, but I need a part number. I've looked around and it's hard finding the right ones for a forester as they all seem to be for WRXs... Will the WRX ones fit?

email Nick Chiew ([email protected]) at North Shore Toyota, they are the NZ distibutor for Cusco. They have 4 different coil over setups for the SG foresters ranging from $1800 to $4000.

Some of our email correspondence . .

"If you had to compare them I would put them against:

Cusco Vacanza Wagon -> Tein / Basic Damper

Cusco Zero Wagon -> Tein / Super Street Damper

    Cusco Zero-2E -> Tein / Mono Flex

Also note that ALL Cusco coilovers are also fully rebuildable with all parts available separately, all 4 inner shocks can be purchased from as little as $362.72+GST as part of a shock rebuild kit! "

For more info, please follow these links

"Comparing D2 coilovers to Cusco would be comparing a “Great Wall Ute” to a “Hilux Ute”, two are completely in a different league although they serve the same purpose, if you are after cheap you best stick to D2 or other cheaper brands in the same market like BC, MDU etc

Cusco make their own coilovers in house in Japan and should not too compared to Chinese or Taiwanese counterparts.

If you had to put the Cusco coilovers next to another compare them to the other quality Japanese made brands such as HKS, Tein, Buddyclub, JIC Magic, Apexi, GReddy "

  5. from the service manager at bayswater vehicles in Napier which is our local subaru dealership. Tthe guy who imported the vehicle and got it on the road for me happens to be good mates with him so he was consulated on a few bits and peices to get the vehicle on the road.

Ill be selling the legacy suspension when my Teins come back.

  6. Iv got Tein GT wagon coilovers in my SG5, when i went to get the vehicle vinned i found out 2 of them were leaking so have had them pulled out and sent up to autolign in AK. I replaced the suspension with some out of a Legacy 1995 250T BG9-013358 and the bolt right in. They also lowered the vehicle a good inch or two over the standard forester ride height. Not quite as low as the Teins but they did the trick to get the vehicle on the road.

pics are of the vehicle with the adjusties, ill post one tomorrow with the legacy suspension in it

  7. iv owned both 2001 st/b SF5 and my current 2003 cross sport SG5. Neither of which have been standard though. The SG5 feels like it has more torque and the power comes on alot smoother but iv only driven it around for about a week and havent canned it too hard.

Today I had the ecu re-mapped by WRC developments and i tell you now it has a whole lot more go to it, boost was set at around 14psi with the torque also increasing. The cost of the remap only set me back $995 which i was stoked about esp since i should get an extra 100km to the tank.

  8. its EJ20.

Only the SG9s (2004-2007 Sti) are EJ25. Drove a 2004 Sti last week and loved the power and it handled well but like i said it wasnt really worth the $25k it would have cost me to import one. The other problem was because they are still a relativly new car, the majority of them had done really low kms (like 20-40k) thats why the price was so inflated.

From what iv read the SF5 were rated 240hp. The SG5 are rated at 220hp and the SG9 (Sti) is rated at 265hp.

Nothing a few mods here and there can sort out power wise just finding parts for the SG5 thats the problem

  9. only when they are clean mate, i was never really keen on the SG shape cos they look too much like SUVs but after seeing a few lowered with some nice wheels it just changes the shape and dynamics of the car (i guess this is the case for any car).

  10. Forester # 3

hi again, couldnt stay away for long, here it is my new 2003 Subaru Forester fresh from the Japanese auction, should be arriving in Napier in 6 weeks. From what iv read it has 18" wheels, full bodykit, aftermarket exhaust system, TEIN adjustables and a dash full of nice gauges, will post more pics when it lands but heres a taste...

  11. couldnt justify $25k for the Sti Foz so settled for this for a nice $9100NZ in Japan
