  1. i cant remember ...i know the factory actuator on vf22 is 15psi. i think the vf23 was only 7psi altho some mite have 15psi also.. cheaper to get another internal actuator than to get a external wastegate and have it mounted and running(plumbed in)
  2. they do wear out..i have had quite afew of factory actuators f''k out..if its stuck shut will over boost... there is quite a bit of tech to mounting the actuator... they need preload on the actuator so it stays shut on normal driving ..too much overboost too less underboost it also affects spool times and amount of boost you can run
  3. i know what you mean...sorry my bad but i didnt mean that its opening fully and closing fully... as it would only take fractions of a second for it to fluctuate..
  4. could be problems with factory wastegate actuator... what turbo u running??
  5. the external works on a pressure spring... let say when the gate opens at 10psi.. being a 38mm external the vf22 internal would be like 28-30mm.. it lets out too much, thus under boost...the wastegate doesnt see the 10psi anymore ..thus closing the gate till it reaches 10psi again...thus the opening and closing of the gate to regulate 10 psi...seems logical really.. also...makes a difference on the amount of boost you run really..low boost means more exhaust gas is vented and high boost less is vented..
  6. its all about the boost control.. electronic boost control is the only way lol
  7. the turbo is designed to have the factory internal wastegate with the right sized diameter.. fitting a 38 mm external wastegate its actually letting too much out.. really if you were able to see the valve working in action..it would be constantly flutter(opening/closing) to maintain wastegate pressure...wat you would find with the internal it will open and stay open and be steady through-out the rev range.. wouldnt you think by having the external fluttering it would distrub the flow to the turbo??
  8. took for a run runs like ass with the afm in unplug it..cel but will run good 3 psi (half throttle) really nice and smooth... time for afm??
  9. do you unplug ecu connectors?
  10. couldnt find both the plugs only the green ones... i kept doing just the green plugs.. it has reset itself.. what other things could i look at to see whats causing my problem?
  11. whats the correct reset??
  12. back together still has problem.. it will rev pass 5k..if you only gentle on the throttle... it now also has a miss on low rpm say when u turn the corner and go to accel it will have a miss b4 u carry on.. i tried the afm ..unplugged while running it stalls.. cel is on when you restart..seems to drive beta without miss..i bring the revs up pass 5k its smooth on gentle throttle and i giv it a little more gas b4 i change gear and seems ok...didnt want to bean it without afm i pulled over to reset ecu by connecting the positive and negative terminal together.. still came up cel.. i have tried to reset quite afew times after this but still cel..would it b afm??
  13. upon random inspection..................... I HAD THE FUEL FILTER AROUND THE WRONG WAY... i was in middle of checking the cambelt tensioner as well...it moves while im hand turning the engine over....arhhh.. aint keeping it like that so have ordered a new one... hence duno if this has fixed my problem
  14. the platnum 6'd were pregapped to .8 already.. will try afm
  15. checked and changed sparkplugs ..coils were tight
  16. wouldnt disconnecting afm bring up cel and limp mode?
  17. i got pinks sitting in the glovebox lol... na we tried them and wouldnt even start its running factory blues now
  18. all is standard..ecu wiring inj afm, just drive it ??and what do i expect??? if it labours to above 4500rpm then it b afm?
  19. im pretty sure will rev past 4500rpms...i just button off but im sure it will it will surge at 4500 rpm when off boost on boost it feels like its gettting held back...will say build up 5psi all the way to 4500rpm then just run flat and miss
  20. started it after work today... no check engine light...yay!!! it was missing yesterday so i checked the plugs.. they were black around the base, the tip and the end of the spark point was clean.. i put my older set of plantums in.. check all intake and boost hoses..no leaks.. good on cold start and idles ok when warm.. still back firing tho..will drive fine up to about 4500rpms.. wether its just light throttle or foot down its fine upto 4500revs then it misses.. anything else to check? had checked the power to coil b4 and was fine had inspected the coils for cracks no leaks on injectors. all cyclinders running..
  21. still looking into the issue yet...will get it sorted...patience is not easy
  22. na bro..must have been a different ecu... wouldnt prime the fuel pump.. so must have been a jdm ecu... its running...still missing up top end.. even if i let it rev slowly it will back fire.. will check all hoses and plugs... i would assume the pinks wont run?? needs remap ?
  23. went to check the cam timing... nothing wrong there... just to make sure the back on the camgear wasnt damaged..nothing there.. had a look at my old cam gear out of the v7 heads and lookd at the back...only had two tooth that the cam sensor uses.. looked at the ones that came with the v8 heads...and wala...was different...had 7 tooths... changed it and it runs on all fours and sounds alot beter...still had cel... went for drive but missing on or off load pass 4000revs so will check sparkplugs to see how fouled up there are otherwise trip to the shop again to pay another 50 bucks for a scan
  24. car starts without the sensor...does it mean issues with the ecu???thinking its got signal from the sensor to start?
