  1. Hi all hope everyone is having a great Xmas/New Years break.

Who has experienced the oil in the loom problem on avcs cars and what is the best fix?

I have oil in the drivers side loom plug, and on top of the heads. (V8 motor)

Avcs sensors are about 1500ks old

Is this a replace the loom job?

Thanks in advance for any and all help

    Cheers

  2. I don't know how this could be a good deal, unless the center diff in the gearbox is also a plate model or something.

A gearbox with an unknown fault; maybe $100 worth, if that, possibly scrap value?

So you're paying $900+ for a used R160 plate diff. Not worth it, much as I love plate diffs.

Yea your right. It is a gamble and could end up costing more than it's all worth to fix.

Just looking for the best/strongest options in terms of a replacement 5 speed

  3. Hi everyone, first post hopefully this is the right place.

I've seen a r160 3.9 plated rear diff and matching gearbox on trademe.

Apparently the gearbox has been rebuilt with ra 1-4th, 3.9 final but won't go into 4th, just wondering if anyone knows the one I'm talking about and if you think it's worth it

Seller is asking $1000 for both

Thanks in advance for any help

  4. Picked up a set of 195/60R15 Pirelli Cinturato P6s today as part of my 'theme' for my car (90s Subaru WRC inspired, Pirelli were a sponsor)

420 treadware, traction rating A and other rating A, 88V.

I'm not expecting too much in the way of performance but it will be an upgrade.

Nice, tyres are always a good place to spend some coin

Yeah definitely the cost of a 6 speed is a bummer. I should know on that one

a 5 speed can be as strong, but it requires pulling it apart, putting what's known as 'blast plates' inside to stiffen the box casings, and then dropping in a stronger gearset from the likes of PPG etc. If you can do that S*** youself, you could have a stronger box than a 6 speed. Downside, if you break one of those, it could well cost you more to fix it than a 6 speed

Yea gearsets aren't cheap either, they make the 6 speed swap look worth the coin. Bit to think about I guess. Did you enjoy the difference from the 5 speed?
