  1. Needing a mechanical speedo cable for a v2 sti with a 5sp 4.44 box. Can I source one from any early 90's subie like an impreza or leggy, or do I need to get wrx/sti one from a v1/2? thanks alot
  2. "buuuuut with enough persistence you can get all the bolts off" He goes hard lol zero ****s
  3. [video=youtube_share;s43VJeLxv0k] I laughed alot, He does a clutch job back yard as and make its sound and look easy, like 1 man gearbox installs and just wtf rusty ol nissan someone tell me that this is not normal backyard mechanics? This looks hard as hes gona talk people into pulling there cars apart then get stuck lol almost scares me with the easy in which he does that, pro
  4. searched about it and found out, soz
  5. yep, running the r160 atm, daily her until can afford a r180 hub to hub swap, talked with a guy today who had pile of broken axles and says he's gone thru 4 diffs, they daily fine but if you want to drift on a 160 you cant just ruthlessly dump, you got to "thrash her gently" I understand that though, I know through watching good drivers and practicing that once you can start to feel your running gear your able to correctly manipulate how you put your power down, smalls things like double clutching, clutch/throttle application/control, inertia initiating etc etc all guided through your sense of the car, I know experienced drivers know what im talking about, just a matter of conscious practice, it's definitely a skill that is useful in all vehicles, So Im motivated to put effort into learning this and honing driving skills, I'll update my experience from this mindset when I have an r180 installed and so much conscious driving is not necessary. Thanks for the help once again, all the usual faces particularly.
  6. Yea I've looked real good into r180 swap. I need the whole subframe to do it right. Then matching box, (but tbh if I had r180 I would give the rwd novelty a go) I Like the r160 4.44 so the dss axles and cv upgrade would allow me to keep that funny little feature too
  7. Thanks koom. Yea I've looked at dss. They got some beefer ones. $1000 usd. Thats what gave me the custom axles job idea. Perhaps I could get some beefer axles for less. If not then I dont actually mind paying out for those dss ones.
  8. have no idea what there made of but assumed because of how easy they brake it wouldn't be steel.
  9. If I take my r160 shafts down to the local engineers can I get them to make steel replicas. Any thoughts on this? would they also be stronger?
  10. Thanks Tony, well answered man
  11. Oh man thats great What are my offset restrictions?
  12. 17x8.5 et30 5x100/5x114.3 225/45 Bridgestone Potenza RE002
  13. Can I get away with equiping 17x8.5 rota grids on my gc8 without worry? I have 22b front guards that are fiber glass so i cant roll them. as for the rear I dont mind getting them rolled/flared. Any other hiccups I might run into? Ty guys
  14. Thanks boon. I wanted them cuz they look neat behind some nice wheels. 294 thanks man
  15. Can someone help me select some front brake rotors for a 94 wrx, I also have some 4 pot Subaru breaks + braided line I wanted to equip so I want to make sure I get the correct rotor. Here is a selection I was looking but not sure what one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchResults.aspx?&cid=8512&searchType=&searchString=slotted&x=0&y=0&searchregion=100&type=Search&sort_order=default&redirectFromAll=False&rptpath=1-&page=1&generalSearch_keypresses=7&generalSearch_suggested=0&generalSearch_suggestedCategory= Thanks
  16. Perfect thanks, while on the subject, if the suby diff and axles dont stand up to rwd so well, what would be a good solution to this? silvia rear end with alot of fab?
  17. Hey thanks man, Its cool. I do plan on ripping it up on the track rwd and yea Ill brake things but if the fear of that had the ability to stop me from doing what I wanted I would have a very safe and boring time at the track... and probably still brake something lol. So you reckon there is no difference in having the diff removed and straight shaft in place? I dont know much at all about it but would it be losing less power to the wheel having a straight shaft in place? or would it be negligible if any.
  18. I've found a couple of boxes, One has the center diff removed and a straight shaft installed, and the other "Has had front crown wheel removed". Which is better? does it matter? is welding the center diff a better way? I dont care about time and money just the end result when it comes to these options cheers
  19. Anyone in Napier region able to or can vouch a place that will tune my cars handling? Car has all the bells and whistles now but I dont know anything about geometry or even wheel alignment. Im looking for someone who can do it all. I dont care the least about ride comfort I just want it to be the most aggressive/best handling wrx around. Thanks! edit: car is gc8 ra, fully braced too.
  20. sweet. My skyline has been soaking up most my funds so havent got round to getting the wrx finished, those new cuscos are sweet man like really nice, I wasent used to the lowerd ride height and fuccked my exhaust up really bad, hence looking at getting another one
  21. Yea let me know how it goes, if you manage to get a nice note please let me know.
  22. http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/exhaustbackpressure.html Number 2 is a interesting read on it.
  23. Lol wouldent go that far. A quick google search revealed header tuning can help scavenge exhaust outa the cyclinders. Somthing about sound waves even lol. Well my current exhaust is 3" downpipe to 2.4" exhaust and it sound pretty nice with an effective muffler. But listening to those 90's rally cars man that sound is king
  24. Little bends as possible. I noticed some rally gc8's were running small pipes so got me wondering.im not so keen on the 3" droney sound so if i could run a 2" that would be sweet. I dont know anything about turbo exhaust but a guy at work rekons the turbo creates a vaccume on the cyclinders so prehaps theres no advantage to going smaller. Any tips/tricks to creating a really effective exhaust system for my setup?
