These things must be easy to roll, my cousin rolled one on sealed road trying to do a handbrake slide and I saw one on tv that had been rolled also after attempting a handbrake slide
On a wet road, I can get mad full countersteer hella drift yo, on a dry road, this happens.
Need to adjust suspension and centre of gravity.
-
And only a bent rim and a bent tie rod!
-
This really got the heart pumping, traction roll while inititating a handbrake slide!
I have video games to thank for the reactions that kept it right side up.
-
It was unexpected, but apparently all the grand theft auto I\'ve been playing imbued me with the right reactions to keep it right side up
I was giggling the whole time
-
Today I did the Vertical Drift...
Pic says it all..

You should definitely consider adding LPG injection!
>decent power boost
>phenomenal economy boost because diesel "complete burns"

Made reusable sidewall stencils for my bikkies ;D

My wof guy is really old-school, he knows what he\'s looking at and if a mod is safe or not. If it\'s safe and done properly, it\'ll pass..
If it wouldn\'t pass a cert, it won\'t pass him either.
Eg installed new BC gold coilovers into my 525 few years back, and he passed it with no comments. Put 6mm slip ons on my hilux to clear front balljoints, he told me to change the rims and bring it back for recheck..
-
Actually, screw the dual circuit idea, my WOF guy would poop kittens over that one.
Thinking a 1" master cylinder and a proportioning valve will be the way to go.
-
Entertaining an off-beat string of thoought here:
Suppose I deleted the booster, utilized two 3/4 master cylinders connected with a balance bar..??
I.e front circuit and rear circuit are completely separate fluid-wise
-
Gave the brakes a good bleed all round, still taking heaps of pedal travel to stop (hauls up fast though)
98% certain the master cylinder is just too damn small
-
Today my gearbox mount expire
But I fixed it.
-
It was time to replace the rear brakes (drum) on the Ace, so I ordered in some shoes, they were slightly wrong, but the bench grinder solved that issue,
The real issue is with the cylinders. Stock replacements were damn near impossible to track down, with only one supplier out of four having a listing, and at $50+ each! Politely told them what they could do with those cylinders, and scored some off a Justy that matched the dimensions for much much cheaper.
After bleeding the brakes, my pedal guy (dad) said the pedal felt nice and firm. Awesome!
But the shiny facade fell apart when I went for a test drive, to reveal a turd of a braking system.
The pedal is spongy as hell and takes 3 inches of travel to start really stopping...
My theories:
>there\'s still air in the lines
>a cylinder is leaking (it looked sorta wet in there when looking through the adjustment hole)
>cylinder bore size is causing the problem.
The stock cylinders are 9/16, absolutely tiny and will probably grenade when I install the hydro-handbrake. The new Justy ones are 3/4 bore, much better. But I noticed my master cylinder is only 3/4 bore and I\'m thinking its just too small for those big cylinders, and can\'t pump enough fluid quickly.
I\'ve ordered a new pair of cylinders, and I\'m pulling the drums off in the morning to check for leaks, but some input from someone that knows a bit about hydraulic systems would be great, I\'m just a self-taught garage cowboy.

Nice work! I didn\'t eeven know what gymkhana was two years ago, I\'m so new to motorsport, and so hooked on it.
-
Nice work Ryan! I was at that round, but I slept in so only made the afternoon session.
-
Ahhh advance have finished their Gymkhana season, I won the FWD class overall in that series
-
Where do you race? I\'d be keen on entering some events!
-
Less mistakes, music, and TWO camera angles! Enjoy
-
This thread is moving along nicely, love it! Be out of action for the next week with a tonsil op, hope I recognize the next one
-
Yup hampton downs. But Wellington has the slipway doesn\'t it? That track looks heaps fun!
Yeah the switches on the doors are quite stiff, so it flickers with a good bump in the road ;D
-
Excuses the mistakes, every other free play at Gymkhana days has been dry so I haven\'t had a huge amount of practice at sliding it..
If anyone knows how to embed video, that would be choice.
Expect a edit this weekend utilising an external camera angle as well to show wheel lock, and an audible version of the song playing in the car
-
Video to come over the weekend, going to splice the in car footage with the external view, and chop out a few of the mistakes

apologies or the double-ups, imgur is being a brat.

Well road test results are in, achieved 600km from a 25L tank of 98
Previous personal best (no mods) was 500km
5L/100km down to 4.1L/100km
So I\'ve managed a 20% increase in efficiency, and with more simple \'eco-mods\'in the pipeline, I\'ll be moving into "f**k you and your Prius" territory in no time ;D
-
Damn wish I had checked your post earlier scott. I\'ll post up a link to the event page when the season starts up again, sometime next year..autumn probably.
Yep its less about the lump under the bonnet, more about the nut behind the wheel in motorsport
well didn\'t manage to snatch first overall, no surprises there, but did go home with the title of fastest front wheel drive for the season
And it rained during the \'freeplay\' session after all the timed runs had taken place, so i headed out on my steelies (already swapped over for the drive home) and practiced some counter-steer, at full op-lock ;D video\'d it on go pro if anyone is interested
