    /they couldn't clone the chip

Yep, exactly. Hoping there is another company out there that can do it without having to fork out ~$600 for another factory Subaru one... x_x

I'd first go back to Protect Audio and show them it's not working. Either ask for a refund or replace it for one that will work.

I'm planning on going to Ross halt ( http://www.rossgalt.co.nz/ ) for getting a new alarm remote and key cut for my car. Can't comment on price.

I'm in the process of trying to get a refund from them but they're being difficult. Tried to tell me to just leave the alarm deactivitated all the time! Erm, no lol.

Ross Galt was my first port of call but they couldn't cut the key itself. Something about it being too worn which is weird - it doesn't look it and the other company I went to didn't have a problem.

  3. Kia Ora Christchurch subbie lovers,

What is the best (read cheapest) place to get a replacement key? (2005 Subaru Legacy)

I just had one done at Protect Audio on Blenheim Road for ~$160, but alas it sets off the car alarm  ...and they said they tested it!

Apparently I'm looking at approx $600 at Armstrongs. Just wondering whether there is a cheaper way to go. Cheers
