  1. Put on the boost graph on the same link.

Bigger turbines is a blouch 2.5xtr in that line of turbo. In retrospect maybe I should have gone for that one, but it got fairly negative reviews for producing extremely similar power for more lag. Either way I'm pretty happy, it's a great turbo for street driving. I'll put it down the quarter soon to find out how it really goes

  2. Sure, but only got the dyno sheet with no PSI/injector duty measurements. Hans @ E&H told me that 23 was peak boost.

I'll see if they have them handy. I can check manually but that's like 160k's and I've got to read off a bar gauge. From memory today it hits 1.5+ bar in the early 6's before fading off. Doesnt go past 1.5bar for that long, but since my old tune was like 1.3-1.4 so under the big readout on a defi gauge for 1.5 bar I was paying attention

  3. Ya I think the difference between the 1.5 and the 2.5 is the turbine sizing. I don't have a scanner at home so I'll put it up tomorrow at work :D

On the street its perfect for the brakes/suspension (20th Anniversary edition came with some mild suspension upgrades). Torque is great from a 2L, did some pulls against my mate in a 2014 Diesel Audi SQ5 in 4th/5th from 90kms. It was not close with the powerband from 4000->7000 (and weight :P)

Lag is noticeable for me especially in up-shifts but that's mostly because the stock VF49 was so fast to make boost

270kw on pump is quite normal for 1.5XTRs at ~23psi. I would love to see the dyno plot and boost plot once it is tuned. Best street setup in my opinion for ej207s and stock location turbo.

    Good guess! 268.91wkw @ 23 psi 6200rpm/456nm torque at 4770.

Ill post up the dyno tomorrow but its a similar shape from my old tune, peaky mid range torque and hp tailing away after 6.5k...but the extra 70kw/80nm makes a big difference. Glad I shelled out for this turbo, spool is pretty good.

Anyone want to buy a VF49 with 35,000kms or stock sti intercooler :P

Will post up the dyno. I'm interested to see how the 10cm housing (as fixed for the twin scroll) works for lag and peak power. Poor stock clutch isn't going to last much :(. Any recommendations for a stout DD/drag clutch?

  6. Resurrecting my old posts, cheers evowrx for the info.

At EH motors at the moment, Bloch Dom 1.5 twin scroll, id1000s,pump, 3" exhaust now catted :(, big fmic.

I'd love to hear some speculations on power :D (2008 grb ej207) getting dyno tune next week.

No hate for the overpriced turbo please :) (and 3 port ebcs)

  7. I think they recommend it because they are usually approved dealers of HKS, tomei etc so easy install for them and has proof of expected power. Also a margin since they probably get a discount over buying on RHD Japan or wherever. In saying that the shops I've talked to are happy enough to let you buy your own **** outside of them.

Oh, another option I didn't mention I had was that turbochargers NZ think they can throw a gt or gtx 3076 CHRA onto the stock housing with a new comp cover. Much cheaper, but haven't seen it done on a VF 49. Similar to what Murch would/could do? I talked to him ages ago but I didn't have a real goal in mind

Holy crap thats a big budget. Just drop it off to dtech with 13k cash and tell them to spend wisely. If spending that money silly not to forge shortie and aim for 300wkw. Tony has a borg on here that made silly power on a v11 iirc. Pretty sure theyve got a jig to make a twisted adaptor to suit stock t/s headers too.

Ha I guess, just being realistic. It'll probably end up being less than that anyway. E&H quoted around 9 with a 4.4k HKS gt28 all installed with fuel and fmic. So with a 3k Blouch/Steam it'd be like 7ish considering that included a hi flow cat, which I probably need since imported post 2010 :(

Yeah I mean its a low K engine so with an EBC running like 220-230 low boost most of the time it should be ok for a couple of years till a full rebuild.

Cheers for the link, and the info! I dream of a twisted EFR 7670 sleeved 2.2 but that's a different realm of money. Kinda like thus guy; http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gr-members-journals/268336-2008-j

Anyway we've probably derailed this thread enough! Cheers for the thoughts Evowrx

I was looking at those and they did look good but the only results i was able to find were in the USA and on the NASIOC forums. Also the cost is up there with the "known" brands once converted from US dollars to NZD + shipping

+1 on seeing results on a nz dyno too.

    Same same!

Really don't want to be the guinea pig for either a blouch 1.5xtr or a steam Stx (twin scrolls) in NZ. NASIOC seem to love them but never seen any dynos on a hatch ej207 JDM GrB. It's certainly expensive but compared to a few reputable shops I've talked to usually default to the HKS gt28 for a stock fit turbo upgrade which is like 4k! Which is crazy money for a smallish divided entry turbo. Kinugawas are much cheaper, but I'm willing to spend a wee bit more.. Tricky call! If anyone's heard of a NZ JDM install of either I'd be very interested in seeing the dyno/actual drivability of those U.S. Garret hybrids. I mean either of those (blouch/steam) should be good for around 280wkw without too much hassle right? Or am I being mislead by the USDM 2.5 e85 chaps? Thoughts please!

Any idea what sort of performance you are expecting from this? The factory one is bell mouth, unless the cats are a massive restriction it doesn't look to bad.

Would you do this front pipe first, or do the cat back?

Do you know much much he wants for these?

Haven't paid yet! But somewhere in the region of 500-600 fitted. Send a PM to JMR on Facebook if your interested.

I'd do both if you could at the same time, it'll save on labour especially with a custom jobbie like this one. TBH tho I didn't because I was so sick of the anaemic sound from the standard exhaust but I didn't have any other options to fit a down pipe at that time.

I've only done intake and this DP into a 3" Blitz Nur Spec catback. I'm hoping for anything over 200kw @ wheels but ofc depends on other factors. More of a future proof when I change the turbo in a year or so.
