  1. Well after a bunch of research and parts sourcing I believe I've sorted what's required for a BG5B/C 20H manual conversion.

For anyone interested you will need.

Gearbag(and matching diff/shafts etc depending on the setup you're planning to run) I'll be running a TY752VBCAA box paired to an EM code 4.44 Suretrac

    BD/BG Manual tailshaft

    Pedal set, footrest

    Clutch master, slave & lines

    Clutch, flywheel etc of course

    Manual Starter motor

Shifter assy incl interior shifter trims

Transmission mount/subframe (If running twins the front & rear body mount pieces of the subframe share part numbers with single turbo but the centre section is different, unsure what changes till I have it in the flesh)

    5G code manual ECU part # 2611AC581/582/583

ABS ECU, this will depend on the build date of your car

Complete Dash/Main engine harness from same car as the ECU

Will update once all parts have arrived to confirm everything works as it should.

  2. Yep I found that thread, Gen3's definitely do run a standalone TCU.

    I found a page from a Japanese guy who's done a conversion on a BG5A

    http://machax.s319.xrea.com/m2/bg5/drv/002.html

I even went through a lot of American stuff, worked out which wiring needs to be mucked around with on their setup(As their facelift BD/BG ECU also runs a bolt on single connector instead of the usual 4 or 3 plug deal) Only to realise afterwards that it's actually completely different again to a BG5C AT ECU connector.

This diagram is the only thing really that I've been able to find and even then it's not much help as it's largely unlabeled and the parts that are are in Japanese.

  3. Hi all,

Planning on undertaking a manual conversion on my 98 GT and having a bit of trouble nailing down specific info related to TT Autos of this particular type.

Wondering if anyone has done a swap on one of these before and if so what was required electrically to make it all happy.

I'm somewhat fearing the ECU & TCU are one in the same and from what I've looked at so far it appears this is likely the case and would make it an absolute headache without a reloom so I'm hoping someone can let me know definitely in either case.

    Cheers,

    Michael
