That does look like a lot... have you cut the filter open?
Yeah there was more inside the filter, it’s the normal amount I’ve seen most oil changes. Factory bottom end bearings at 300wkw I guess they make their own clearances haha! -
Replaced my front brake pads yesterday and done my regular 6,000km oil change today.
I’ve done 10 oil changes now on this build (60,000km since the motor went back in) and each one of them has had this same amount of glitter…- 3

Done my first wheel bearing/hub today. Rear passenger side wheel bearing on my 2016 STi gave up at 98,000km.
Must have worn out prematurely from all the AWD burnouts on the Taupo skidpad!
Sorry for the poor quality pictures, they were taken on Snapchat and then saved…- 4

Installed carbon fibre/alcantara wheel

Yours will have the spherical bearing ones from stock won't it? Earlier ones that are still rubber are easy enough to hack apart and the hacksaw the sleeve but not 100% sure with these.
This style, am going to pull control arms tomorrow and attempt taking the factory ones out -
I had a big job adding a piece of plastic from a Legacy in the STI’s engine bay.
As expected it fits just the same on the GR/GV chassis, unfortunately the Legacy battery cover doesn't quite fit the same as the support behind the lights is about 5-10mm further forward so none of the front points line up. I might still cut it slightly to fit but it’ll probably bug me not being a perfect fit.
I’ve been looking for a pair of those to suit my car, not easy to come across! -
Thinking about installing my Whiteline anti-lift bush kit into my front lower control arms over lockdown
How easy is it to get the bushes out of the arms? Can I do it at home without a press? Has someone had experience doing this pleaseee -
Nice. My red start stop buttons like yours turned up yesterday so I'll have a go with them tonight.
Aliexpress deals are on!- 1

Yeah as of my 37,000km oil change I’ve taken over doing the services myself and probably gonna do them more often. I’m waiting to hear back from the dealer most likely next week but if my diff isn’t too shredded I’ll probably just run it and change the oil more often. Up until the week before it broke I was fairly easy on it but I got in the headspace of doing donuts and I probably did like 4+ a day for 4 consecutive day’s...
Probably a good thing my axle broke cause I could’ve broken my diff earlier and I’ve been driving all this time with shrapnel in my diff and would’ve caused more damage.

Wow, looks like it happened quickly, how many km has your car made ?
When was your last rear diff fluid change ?
You might want to change the fluids more often if you drive the car hard, it's a common practice when you track your car and could help in your case as well.
(Cusco LSD is probably a good choice if you have to change the rear diff)
Car’s done 37,000km since 2nd September 2016 when I took delivery, it’s held up pretty good imo.

Got a update from the dealer, axle broke at the cv so I’ve got a complete axle assembly on order, they also drained my rear diff and found “large chunks of metal in the oil” so they’re gonna pop it open and see how damaged it is, I’ll be buying a Cusco LSD if it’s buggered.

Haven’t posted here for a while but it’ll give everyone a good laugh I’m sure.
I’ve done over a dozen heli’s in the past week (Bc Christmas skids) and tonight as the rear swung out I heard a mighty bang. I came to a stop, unlocked my centre diff and tried to move, as I let my clutch out the car wouldn’t move and all I could hear was a rattling.
I thought I had blown my 1st gear, so I tried 2nd and that rattled too, car still wouldn’t move, thought I’d snapped my main shaft or something.
So I tried a bunch of things and then I locked my centre diff and to my relief the car moved. So it was obviously something to do with the back of the car, I thought maybe the diff had blown.
I drove the car home then unlocked the centre diff with the handbrake on and in gear, car wouldn’t move but the rattle was there, had a listen around the back of the car and it was rattling on the left side.
Looking under the car the back left CV boot on the diff rotates but the axle isn’t. So I’ve either blown my rear left CV joint or I’ve broken my axle where it connects to the CV.
According to the internet this happens all the time to guys who drag race their STi’s.
37,000km of being beat on, first major issue, Subaru built these cars bloody well.

@Conducks might be good to go to if you're free tomorrow
Would be neat to go but being Napier based it’s a mission to go to any track

It’s got a resonator now, sounds deep again, but turns out removing your cats and going 3” stainless downpipe makes your car a S*** ton louderim late to the party just catching up on all this haha. thats pretty mint power if at the wheels, but looks like virtual dyno or something? fwiw i ran virtual dyno on road and it says im 350kw, put it on my snapchat and all kinds of ppl got butthurt LOLalso what in the hell have you done to your exhaust? i remember hearing clip of it before and it sounded good but now it just sounds like a NA Honda???

If there's one thing I've learned from having kids, it's that they really have no idea how ridiculous their stories are =]
Yupppp I tell heaps of stories.........
Whenever I post on here it manages to cause a fuss so I’m probably just gonna stop.

Your not seriously arguing that a trackday is an inappropriate venue for driving cars because your daddy's supercars didn't feel fast are you?
He asked if I had track experience. When did I say the track is inappropriate?

Hey Conducks.. you have got the cash to splash and an obvious desire to drive fast ..
Have you ever had a shot on the track..
I am recommending you give it a go..
Karting is a great introduction to motorsport..
You will learn race craft, setup, organisation and have a real driving experience..
Then I would suggest a formula ford as the next step in your racing career..
I know its fun to blast around the streets in your hotrod but its not going to give you any personal growth..
Get out with a pack of other drivers giving it heaps and see how good you really are..
Doing crazy stuff on public roads isn't going to win you any prizes..
From my experience after spending a great day racing in a controlled environment the last thing you will do on the way home is bust the speed limit..
Do it properly man..
Used to race go carts. Did two track days in dad’s R35 GTR and his 911 Turbo S at Mansfield, wet and dry. Was keeping up with V8 Touring cars in the 911. The track makes cars feel so slow. Even with 580hp the 911 only clipped 220kmh down the Mansfield straight.
Also raced motorbikes, jetskis, jetboat and racing buggy’s.

Mate this isn't a forum for showing off what you've bought and bragging about putting other people's lives at risk. You've obviously got a passion for cars and $$$ to spend, make that a positive experience that doesn't harm anyone
“What have you done to your car today” I got a strut bar for it 🤷🏼♂️

I have to laugh when you say your mates reckless doing 150 in a 50 zone, as you have just admitted you do 260 in a 100k zone - your mate is doing 100kph over the limit, you are doing 160km over the limit. YEs the open road is a little safer in terms of traffic, but still the most stupidest post Ive read all day
Didn’t say where it was or wether it had a posted speed limit.

What have you done to your car today?

Had a set of headers arrive yesterday for a 5th Gen Legacy GT with the low mount turbo location. These cars only came with equal length style manifolds like the 2015+ WRX. My friend and I are going to cut the manifold and extend one side out to effectively make it unequal length
