It’s for when you’re in full Need for Speed Underground mode and in a police chase, arrow says they’re in front? Better slow down, behind? Speed up, left? Turn right. Just gotta hope you don’t get a 5 star wanted level, that’s when s*** get cereal
Funny, but rather silly. But understandable if you’ve never used a detector with directional capability.
It adds a whole new dimension to your special awareness of radar, but if that means nothing to you, don’t waste your money.
But don’t rubbish what you don’t understand 😂

No RHD model too. BIG mistake considering how good the R3 still is, and how much better the R7 is despite it only being a slight upgrade.
Radenso might be the detector brand to go for soon...the main developer who did the R3 & R7 has just left Uniden for Radenso.
So, I'll get me a new R3 me thinks.
Nothing wrong with an R3, I've had mine just over a year.
But after 22 years of a V1, I really missed the directional capability. The R7 addresses this as well as a useful increase in range. The weak point is K BSM from some cars, but an upgrade is promised for this.
As far as no RHD version, don't let that put you off. The V1 is LHD only too, and was never an issue for me. , although the display is recessed on the R7 so you'll want it just to the right of muflube, not on the left.
My R3 will go on a TM auction which I'll link to this thread.

Have any of you tried the hidden/discreet options out there?
They are a big step up in price but never been a fan of crap stuck to the widscreen. Especially the hassle of always having to put it away to prevent one of the locals helping themselves.
Performance is king and that means higher on the vehicle... yes its a pain, but not a biggie. The R3 unclips in a fraction of a second.....

Hi,
I'm too lazy to search the forums.....
Got a quote for a second key for the '05 3.0R Outback I've just acquired (see new members posts for details.)
It was horrific! Over $500!!! More than the one I got for my 2003 Porsche 911!!
Suggestions please (Based in Queenstown - or at least I will be in 3 days!)
Cheers

for a few years i was using the valentine one + bt module + yav1 phone app.
it performed well but was getting to be a pain in the ass to use.
last year i switched to the uniden r3.
it is a superb performer, that's also easy to setup and use.
currently the best windscreen mount detector sold in nz, with maybe the radenso pro m.
a big bonus is that uniden have finally made software updates readily available to users.
as mentioned above, the uniden r7 will be out in april.
big bonus is valentine style arrows updated for the 21st century.
it will be more expensive than the r3 (currently $899nzd/399usd), us rrp will be $599. nz ???
lots of good info at vortex radar

This ^^
No question the Uniden R7 is the top of the heap with a range 500m more than anything else.
But the main advantage is directional capability, which I really miss having switched from a 24 year old V1 to an R3NZ.
The R3 is great though and will be significantly cheaper than the R7, and thus in second place.
Here's my clip on the R3:

New member, new to Suby ownership.
Just bought '05 3.0 Outback, to park in Queenstown for regular visits from afar.
125000kms, mechanically perfect currently.
Will need regular servicing to keep it that way.
Can anyone recommend a service centre in Queenstown (or possibly Wanaka - we are based in Cardrona during visits).
Cheers and TIA

Strange... I have an R7NZ with NZ firmware.
Something doesn't quite fit here. The US site specifically states that Australia and NZ unites should not use the firmware update available on the US site....
