I like this idea, will keep an eye on this thread as its something I've been thinking of doing in the next couple years once I escape Auckland.

You could also go for a Lancaster or Outback.. no work to be done just buy it and go surf.

Would they be sweet in stock condition to drive on the beach/ softer sand ? I like the idea of some added clearance to allow for some meatier tires .

  2. G'day clubsub,

I'm a Surfer who's been looking for a 4x4 van which I can use to drive down the beach and sleep in etc

Recently seen some AWD early 2000's Subaru Legacy's with raised suspensions that look to meet my requirements and wold be better for a daily driver than a Van.

From what I understand you can raise a car 50mm using Spacer's without needing to cert it, something similar to the below:

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/parts-other-makes/suspension/listing-2228292407.htm?rsqid=b36add00c5444593b2574bced3f6951b-003

Then there's the option of raising the suspension/ using Forrester suspension to really Jack the Legacy up which would require Certing something like the link below:

    https://www.rallitek.com/lift-springs-lift-kits/5634-rallitek-14-rear-raised-overload-spring-kit-outback-2005-2009.html

I'm not very knowledgable about car mechanics so Just looking for some advice as to the cost and process involved in each option for an early 2000's Legacy (taking it to a mechanic).

Input from anyone that's done this kind of thing before or knows the process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
