I have run many ECU\'s from standard single turbo converted cars to link, Vipec and Motec. I would highly recommend you find a g3 or g4 and put that in. The fuel saving will pay for the ecu over time. And the driveability is far better as is funcrions

sweet! thanks for your input :)

Chuck em both on tm by the time you get your licence back chances are a v3/4 plug in has popped up for 1kish and you can sing happy songs. :P

Mmm could do...i want the car tuned and ready by the time i get my license back lol! Im sure murphys law will get me as always. Get the car tuned etc then a G4 will pop up for 1k!

What would u use clint if the car was yours? PFC or G1.. NO G4! :D

Sell both and go G4. Wont cost too much more by the time you sell both and eat bread/butter all week.

Haha i knew you would say that clint! ;)

Rather stick to what i have for now! If i ever spend more on the car then G4 it is.

Got the rest of the downpipe welded up.

Didnt really go as planned as flanges on both cat backs are at different angles. Will have to cut up and relocate the stainless system.

I can now drive the car without wakeing/disturbing the whole of chowick

    /quote]Got ya liscence back?

Nope lol..2 and a bit more months! :(

  5. Hey all!! Slowly deciding which ecu i should use as times getting closer now! Thought i might as well get some opinions

Have spoken to a few others that have used the ecus and got have asked what they thought about them. Positives and negative in order to figure out what will suit my setup/driving routine.

G1 and Apexi Power FC - ST Hitec will be the tuning working no matter which ecu i pick

Car is driven quite alot on the roads so 50% always in auckland traffic etc and will be attending drags and track (when i pick up my balls).

    SO...

Whats everyone thoughts/personal experiences with either ecus etc. what did you dislike/like ie bad cold start etc etc

    Specs:

    Td06 twinscroll

    All your bolt ons

    Sard 560/80cc side feeds

    Thanks all!

wasn\'t a straight swap.you can trim the edges off the v7 scoop and make it fit but went a different route and cut the v7 mounting base off and plastic welded the scoop to my gc8 base to give it that factory look.you can actually order bolt on v7 sti scoops to fit gc8 from htautos.co.uk which is probably easier

/quote]How easy would it be to: cut the standard gc8 scoop off base - turn it around and plastic weld back on

I want to reverse the scoop on mine when I go FMIC

from what iv been told by another member is v3-6 scoops from factory can be turned around. and will bolt up so give that a go bit of fun..if that works just plastic weld like i did and turn around and bolt on.if it doesnt then i dont see it being to difficult to turn the v7 scoop around and plasti weld it to gc8 base probably just as hard to do it the way i did

Guy was talking kak to us at the auckland meet. I tried turning my scoop around the next day and no it dont work. Leaves a super big gap on passengers side. Didnt try it with the full plastic. Just the scoop

  7. Alloy wheel nuts Are 100% illegal now...we get updated laws/new rules and regs emailed to us at work and that was one of the subjects last year! So like Clint said..old news and true!
