  1. cheers 4that, appreciate you opening up your treasure chest are they 185 or 205 and what tyres? sounds pretty good. Just out of curiousity, can u put up pix of the 14s? Im only curious what they did in 4x140 14inch, cuz i havent seen really any. Im still keen on the good set of those alloy stars (what are they called?), just want to confirm with mate that he can collect them 1st. cheers once again, j
  2. gulp, with rubber? where are you again? if i remember correct you are near Ohakune, Raetihi? I got mates who travel through there quite regularly for the ski bach...if it ends up snowing this year. Maybe thats an option 2save freight etc? I assume they're 13s not 14s? Have to decide if giving up on the turbos is the right thing to do for 3hundy.
  3. mate, those top ones aren't too bad aye?! They alloy too, so way lighter than the steelies. How much for a set if u got spares? Hope its not too much. I paid 200 for the cheviot turbos with decent rubber which also makes the theft sting cuz it was a bargain. I got the subaru centre caps too so might look alright? Just have to bite the bullet and give up on the turbos being replaced. CHEERS!
  4. Ive kicked this around for over a year, sorry for boring every1, but im still keen on some 4x140 rims/tyres if anyone has any to fit brumby/leone? Missed out on some tridents that went to queenstown (they were in south island, and went on old school leone), but haven't seen ANY turbos like what i had knicked. Appreciated the offer of the 'spirits' and might still be interested, maybe flick me another email with a price? Anyone else?? HELP! :-[
  5. This is a message after over a year of trying to replace stolen wheels from my place in Whangaparaoa. Dumb derro kids were hanging out on my [then] new road and nicked my wheels from the back of my BRUMBY (under the tonneau. Only fit leone and brumby, so they got nothing they could use BUT i still haven't found replacements cuz 4x140 is bloody rare!! Anyhow, the cops got no leads, so if u know of any recently purchased, or if u know of any for sale im keen to replace. They all had decent used rubber...Nankang 205/60/13, and the turbos were in decent knick with a few scratches. Cheers for any help.
  6. Thanks for the link, and JOKER they were knicked from Whangaparaoa, just above the Weiti River where my street overlooks the weiti boat club. Im at the very end and its a derro hotspot. Anyhow, its been 2months and i havent heard anything from the pigs, though not suprising. Think i may have to suck it up and buy new ones:( Anyone have a set of 4 cheviot turbos for the brumby??!!? Ill put a thread on the main page as well just in case. What other cars does the 140 offset fit? Mazda's u say? I know Peugeot as well. And what is the correct fitment measurments? 13x6x140?? 13x6jj?? get confused, dont want to grab the wrong ones.... Thanks for any help, shit situation
  7. tell me about it! my eyes and ears r open wide. useless 4 95% of cars on the road.
  8. Tena koe Hotu, nga mihi. Just had my wheels stolen the other day from Whangaparaoa...same derro type delinquints. Thick as bricks. The wheels were bought for a few hundred which sucks but they're for an old brumby with a massive offset of 140! They were also down a driveway 10m, but my whare is down the bank further from the driveway. Just happens to b a new street, Riverhaven Drive, and im at the end where there's a turning bay and a quiet view of Karepiro bay. Ive caught kids rooting there b4, and they even apologised (i just laughed), but these dickheads piss me off. It was bloody hard to find those wheels, had to ship them from the south island. Id say those kids might get 100bux for them?? The only reason they weren't on the brumby was I was waiting to wear down the steel wheels currently on. So these wheels were like old Cheviot Turbos (the black and bare alloy spoked ones with subuaru centercaps) on Nankang 205-60-13s. Keep an eye out, and hold them for me if u catch these little pukes. Police were friendly but we know how koretake they are. cheers.
  9. Gday guys, i know the huge offset of the standard brumby doesnt fit much, but just on the off chance u see any around or for sale, some derro kids pinched my wheels!! Had them on a bike lock at the bottom of my driveway, went away for the weekend and came back to them missing. My place is secluded at the end of a quiet road with a view to the rivermouth and the sea, plus all the houses are down the bank. Anyhow, i was tryna use up the new tyres on my white steel rims, then put on the cheviot turbos (black and bare alloy multispokes with suby caps), but had another few months to go. Bastards. Anyhow, let me know if u hear anything, they were Nankang 205-60-13s.
  10. Holy carap! Saw an 89 Brumby with 167000k's, targas, good knick body and engine, good canopy for only $1990, and from a dealer in Morrinsville no less!! It was put on trademe thursday, 3 june, and i emailed that night asking if anything was wrong (was ready to pounce even tho my brumby is a minta). Next morning "sorry sold overnight". HA, i bet it was one of u fullaz!! Great score! It was a red one with a blue and grey pin stripe across the sides. I just repaired a dent and repainted the tailgate (insurance did, since someone pranged the rear quarter panel while it was parked), and i removed plenty of rust from the sills on both sides, so now she's totally rust free again and freshly painted and cavity waxed (1part diesel, 5parts old oil). Next chance i get some free dosh, im keen to swap to the 4 cheviot hotwires ive got sitting with new 205 60 13 Nankangs, and try to raise my brumby a bit too. Otherwise driving sweet!
  11. I feel like ive done this before (twice actually) but here goes again just for shits and giggles. Ive repaired my brumby!! joy. The problem was the welsh plug that sits on the back end of the propshaft. It had shifted or corroded or something, and oil was leaking out of it rather than following the return line back to the gearbox after lubricating the driveshaft. A quick spot weld of the plug, as i was assured it was not required to be removed ever, and no more oil leak. what a sneaky bugger place to have a leak! Just thought i should post in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Now to focus on the bike engine that needs new rings...easy enough if it wasnt a Buell and i have to drop the entire engine out of the frame just to take apart the cylinders.
  12. go the 84 brumby! i drive the same year and model (although VTNZ decided it was a 1964, hooray!) where is ur ute and when do we get to see pics? u got targas? I replaced my shocks with new, and they were quite cheap. welcome to the forum...
  13. much appreciated. if you have a spare prop shaft, then i spoze i might be interested also... :
  14. yeah i noticed that and mentioned it on photobucket under the pic caption. i reckon there's trouble afoot with the prop shaft....now just have to source a 2nd handy and install, gulp.
  15. http://s704.photobucket.com/albums/ww44/octopusenvy/subaru%20brumbys/?action=view&current=brumbycoupling2.jpg&newest=1 http://s704.photobucket.com/albums/ww44/octopusenvy/subaru%20brumbys/?action=view&current=brumbycoupling.jpg&newest=1 hope that works with the pix?? uploaded to photobucket... its actually not the driveshaft at all, but ahead of the driveshaft where the gearbox side of the universal joint is. joint looks fine, i think mayb whatever is hidden behind the cowling coming from the back of the gearbox could be worn, but then i dont know what that is called really. is it a separate part (hopefully) or part of the gearbox itself (hopefully not)?? until i know how to upload the pix properly, i hope this will help to give an indication of the problem...
  16. the leak is pretty much immediate after the seal has been placed and its a slow drip, not a flow. its the drive shaft that couples to the gearbox and goes to the rear diff. the leak is occurring towards the front of the drive shaft where there is a universal joint and a cowling to protect part of that (from the gearbox side). as for a pic...ive taken 2pix but loading them here is a bit of a mystery. "c" is not an option;) let me know if u need another pic or what u reckon...im out of ideas other than replacing the part the seal goes around inside that cowling...cheers! sorry i dont think the pics will come thru, as there's no simple button for importing the pix here! what am i meant to put between the [/img]? i dont have the pix online, i just have small size files on my desktop...grrr
  17. ??? Greetings to the regular crew, and apologies for being a fair weather club sub visitor. Actually its more a foul weather visitor, as i am in need of some advice for a problem! My red 84 brumby, which i love btw, has been motoring trouble-free until recently. I am getting leakage from the gearbox down the driveshaft. Replace the seal you say? I did it once with an aftermarket seal, and then again with the Subaru seal. Its well dry on the outside but continues to leak well along the inside of the seal and down the driveshaft, dripping on the exhaust etc. Any suggestions as its definitely not the seal, sadly. The drive is smooth so cant really be a bent driveshaft. What about the coupling, or is it possible that theres a crack in the gearbox?! please say it aint so... Is this a problem someone has had before? Driving is fine, no vibrations, no noise, just the smell of the odd burning g/box oil on the exhaust. I dont want to be leaking everywhere, and am reluctant to drive her til its fixed. I even had my mechanic look at it, and he was unsure what it could be. Do i need a new mechanic? Much appreciated!
  18. GEN1 BRUMBY SOLD. thanks to all the help and encouragement, and hopefully we will see this old girl back up here soon with a makeover. Sold to a guy in Hamiltron, and he knows about the site and is keen to fix her up. Here's hoping. Time to divert my attentions to my main and now only brumby!
  19. cheers for that, but the dosh isnt in my bank yet! had a drama already with a bidder/non-payer, who never looked at the ute! This new bidder has a couple of bad feedbacks for the same thing....better not be lightning striking twice, ill be right pissed off. But hopefully hes legit and keen to fix her up sweet. will keep uz posted, cheers.
  20. Just thought id update...took the old brumby for a stretch this morning...started up sweet after sleeping for 3months (battery disconnected). Got some air in the good tyres, topped up oil and coolant, and drove around strong (seems the EA71 is more grunty than my EA81!) in the neighbourhood and on the motorway at 105ish. Just needs a home and a makeover..............
  21. aha, i get u now. well if u wanted one from the roofline straight to the back of the ute, thats called a hard canopy and u can have one for free with my GEN1 Brumby;) As for the other style, i get it, and ive seen that b4. Kinda like a big angle of tonneau, very dune-buggy. Diff strokes for diff folks i spoze.
  22. exsqueeze me? over the top of what? this one works fine;) pics r crap with dew on the tonneau cuz its ball shrinkin cold at the mo. but u wud know all about that down there...
  23. thats right, i forgot he's a north islander...but sadly has too many brumbys (not that it sad, just no room for another i think). Id let the brumby go for 500ish if i knew it was going to a good home to be fixed up tidy...thats losing 300bux and only driving it twice! Doh.
  24. i know exactly where u are, i used to teach enviro units at the local school last year...brekkie at annie's cafe or whatever. nice and quiet. nice peeps at the toyota place too. Anyhow, yeah sell the RX and then come get this minta brumby! i had 2diff guys come and look, and they both wanted a warrented and rego'd brumby or 4wd ute for 600 bux! i wished them the best of luck, they'll need it. So...u gonna sell that RX and come back to me? shame waimaks is south, but you would b another contender for the ultimate rebuild on this GEN1 just to tempt u more.... http://s704.photobucket.com/albums/ww44/octopusenvy/?action=view&current=brumby.jpg&newest=1
