  1.  Tony']It's pretty straight forward to DIY if you take your time.

Here's the engine side loom I made when I put AVCS on my GC8 (I also added idle control at the same time so that's what the extra plug is). The big DT 12 pin connector then joins to another loom I made that goes back to the ECU... I did it that way as it makes it easier/quicker to disconnect if engine needs to be removed rather than having to unplug everything individually.

If you get stuck for the sensor & solenoid plugs, give All Subaru Partsworld a call (0800 278 2278), Rosco should be able to sort you out with them.

Cheers for that Tony. I like the idea of the connector in the bay. What ECU did you go for?

I should have spare plugs just post pics of the solenoid and sensor plugs.
That would be cool if you had them man. I go home to NZ tomorrow so will take some pics and upload them here for you
  2. So whos done it?

Im putting a V7 EJ207 into my Gen 3 Legacy 1999 and the engine i got did not come with the AVCS loom. Ill be running a Link G4 ECU.

I can buy a loom from IAP but shes pretty pricey for what it is ($289USD) Link Below And i dont think it would be a plug and play with a Link

To my understanding I can just find a set of male plugs from a wrecked bugeye and run some wires to the ECU?

  3. Ok this is starting to annoy me.

    Google comes with endless possibilities.

Their are 3 types of gates kits that I think will work.

Their is this one that comes up on the AU/NZ brochure for a recommended kit TCKHWPT277B which is most expensive and quite rare,

Then their is TCKWP328 for all USDM WRXs from 03 on wards that is pretty cheap and common,

Then theirs TCKWP304 for earlier USDM WRXs which is pretty cheap to

Yes the site says the top one for my JDM but if i can save some money i might as well try right.

So will the second one work is pretty much my question.

Is he not asking whether to get the head and block skimmed/decked for flatness or just one of them.

    Very vague wording.

Or maybe whether to do the block side and the rocker cover side, to which the answer would surely be not to do the rocker cover side. The nature of the rubber seal on the rocker cover eliminates the need for it to be absolutly flat

Yeah I should have just said rocker cover side...... Thanks for your answer Andy

  5.  Rosssub']Oil pump, oil seal and o-ring numbers in here:

    http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?42282-Oil-Pump-options-10mm-11mm-12mm

Thermostat is 21200AA072 and the thermostat o-ring is 21236AA010.

Thanks Rosssub. Any idea on the rings you used with the pistons you replaced?

The oil pump I received with my brand new ej207 shortblock from subaru is: 15010AA300

    Oil cooler compl: 21311AA051

Aw awesome. Was the only one partsouq have in stock

  6. So from the list above from les, partsouq only had the water pump and piston rings set in stock and after some googling i got the same parts but different numbers that apparently are compatible.

    parts%20list_zpsfcumngdx.jpg

is their any wiz here that can confirm it all the part numbers above will be fine?

And this bearing kit will be sweet? Main and rod bearings

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/core-engine/auction-1012037399.htm

  7. I remember this with my old BP Legacy. I done the oven trick and put it in oven to re melt the solder. Worked sweet for a couple of months then i done it again but left it in their to long and well it melted the board a bit. Their is a sweet spot in their somewhere haha

  8. Ive sourced a OEM gasket kit including rocker covers

block and heads booked in for decking/resurfacing + "hot tanked"

But i seem to struggle to find part numbers for JDM parts from google.

Im after OEM piston rings 92mm part number

OEM 10mm oil pump part number

    OEM thermostat part number

    ACL race bearings.

I will grab a gates cambelt kit with OEM water pump

Most things will come from partsouq

So you have no throttle body, rails or loom? Ive got a 2.5 bar v7 sti one here which will be spare soon.

Need mac valve boost solenoid too.

Nah I have nothing. I might just sell the bare intake manifold and buy a complete V7 one with fuel rails and all. So if I do that then I won't need the map because they already have one on the TB?

V7 sti throttle body will have a 2.5bar map on it.

    Yep you need iat.

The dude i bought my V7 mani off completely stripped it down. Which f***ed me off cause i wasnt their when he dropped it off. So i was thinking of just chucking all the TT gear on the sti manifold while doing the split fuel rails and coil pack.

So i would need the Link 2.5 map now ae?
