  1. Mine has that, well had it! the pulley wire on it broke, so i just cut it off completely and turned the butterfly valve so that it was always open. I noticed a small change in the sound, but nt many changes otherwise.

If your wanting a bit more power for no cost at all, do what ive done. Ive cut out 2 pieces of 4mm steel into the shape of half a gasket(the reason for half a gasket shape is that i can easily take them out when needed, rather than using washers on the bolts) it gives a gap of 8mm between the flanges and sounds awesome and the power gain is quite surprising! The advantage of it is that you can take it out whenever u want to and u never spent hundreds of dollars on it!

It\'s your money, but I wouldn\'t be rebuilding it for the hell of it - 300km is a milestone but it\'s "just a number", but it\'s as good an excuse to do something as anything else I guess

Most cost effective plan (in my eyes at least) would be to find a version 5 or 6 motor complete - swap that with the existing one you have - there is some wiring work involved but 95% of everything stays as it is (gazzy has done a how-to guide if you would be DIY\'ing it) and you\'re away with a minimum of fuss

Then you have a going (albiet high KM) complete twin turbo engine you can onsell to recoup at least some of your costs.

If the motor is coming out regardless (rebuild/replace) then you\'d be silly not to take the opportunity to convert it to single. Done right it can look like a 100% factory fitted install, and you\'ll never look back - it does transform the way the car drives for the better.

The single turbo conversion isn\'t the hard/expensive part here - it\'s just tossing up rebuild / replace of the motor itself, which only you can do the sums on and decide which way is worth going. Any second hand motor is a gamble as with anything, depends on how much $$ you want to sink into it

yeah that\'s quite a good point. reading this has made me go more towards the swap option hahaha. ive already got an offer to consider! and im sure there\'l be a few more. ive got till roughly the end of the year to deicde so yeah. and it\'l be good to check it all out by myself in the swap. thanks marky.
  3. Well to start off, i have a 2000 RSK B4 that i absolutely love and i bought it at a good price 2 years ago. It has done 280000 km\'s at the moment (wonderful i know, shows soobies CAN last) and it\'ll get to 300000 kms near the end of the year. I have 2 options that I want to propose. 1st option: when it reaches 300000, I can give it the overhaul of its lifetime, replacing seals, maintenance etc etc whatever gets done when an overhaul happens. This will let me keep the twin turbo set up and carry on as how I was before.

    or

2nd option: replace the twin turbo engine and get a single turbo engine, eg: STi WRX and get that fitted in and running(I understand that there is most probably a bit of work to be done to make this happen). This will let me have the fun and thrills of a single turbo in the car that I love.

This is all just an up in the air idea at the moment. I\'ve only just thought about it because I\'ll have to take action in a little while. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. Some people will probably say, dump the B4, get a WRX that\'s already done! The thing is, I want to keep my B4 cause I love it(can\'t emphasize it enough!).

Thanks very much in advance for any help and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sam

  4. Just did mine and man what a difference ;D! pushed me back in my seat like never before haha. I did the same and used tape for the moment, but will out a full length hose in later. the hose that comes off the T join that we block off, do i just block it and tuck it out of the way?

  5. Hi guys. I have a 91 legacy 2.2L non turbo which has an oil leak on the left side of the engine(if you're looking at the engine from the bumper). Im pretty sure its coming out of the tappet cover gasket cause thats where i can see the drip. I just wanted to know how hard it is to change the gasket over and what do I need to do to change it. And do I have to drain the oil or just wait for a while for it to go back into the sump?

    Thanks alot guys!

As always bery much appreciated. ;D

Yup i am with BC5RA,any hub of a similiar era should fit :)

I my self would replace the bearing, but then I am a Mechanic :) they are not that hard to do and then you know u have a new bearing and not one that has done who know how many miles :)

Yeah thats right, i wouldve just replaced the bearing but since it is sorta my first time working on the axle parts, i thought it would be good if i explored around and see how everything works, and another reason is cause its a bit easier too! ;D

  7. Ive got a 91 legacy bc7 2.2 GX. My left front wheelbearing is stuffed. Ive been told its easier to replace the whole hub rather than just the bearing itself. But my main concern is, would I be able to use a LF hub from another year eg: 89 to 93? I gave the guys from SubEuro a ring and they said that I can only use a hub from my model (BC7) ???. But I can't really see the difference using one from another year between 89 and 93.

    Thanks fellow soobie people!

I'm not 100% sure on the diagnosis, but when mine was gone, I was told that you were able to move it if you took the wheel off, like something was loose. Sorry I can't really explain it any further, but send a message to Ichi Ban - he fixed mine!

yeah thats what mine does. when i was changing my wheels over, i could tilt it while it was off the ground. when i was looking at my tyre with the rims face on, i could tilt it so the bottom of the tyre would come closer to me and the top would go away and vice versa. it wasnt moving that much but its something that needs to be fixed. i just need to do it myself!
