do they just do a crack test and harden test?

Hi guys,just got a question looking for advice. i have a v7 sti semi closed deck block, it has a cracked piston(well its not cracked a peice on the side has broken off). If i just get new pistons will it be ok to reuse? the block is only 4000km old and the cylinders seem to be ok,but could the block be worped or cracked? Thanks

When it's cold you can hear it inside the car clearly when warm you can only hear it under the bonnet. But it's getting worse

No I've heard of it but haven't tried it? Does it work? Doesn't piston slap stop when it's warm? Because this doesn't. Would it be the drivers side back piston don't they sometimes get starved of fuel because the fuel pumps are to small?

Yea I'm sorry ae I'm really appreciate you trying mate. If I'm correct it doesn't smoke or use oil and it runs fine.the compression is also good that I'm aware of.

if i do il just buy a rebuilt motor, and no south island ae why that?

i dont know ae?? its a v3 or 4 i think its v3 a 1997?? if it is the piston do you know how much it will cost?

its knocking when warm from the drivers side (its not a big end) maybe piston says the second place??

ok well it has atleast done it for 3-4months?? i dont give it to much shit tho would that make a difference??

so if a big end goes fast mine wouldnt be that?? im sure its done it for a long while.

I've also been told that if the big end is on it's way out then the rings will probaly be screwed aswell?Is that correct?

There is one guy that works there that was a subi specialist so I'm guessing he looked at it? They said they could hear it when it was warm but I had a listen and I couldnt, but you can when it's warming up. I just want to make sure it is that before I start saving for a rebuild.

i have a slight knock from my engine, only heard when you listen under bonnet closly. ive been told its the big end bearing on its way out by the garage ?? im going to take to another to get a second opinion im sure its done it for 1 and a half years so if it was a big end wouldnt it of gone bang already??

im now trying to find out if my car has semi forged pistons?? did the engine cleaner do any good?
