  1. Sorted. The bolts that hold the silver metal part that goes from the turbo hose to the intercooler had come undone. Can a wrx sti intercooler fit a twin turbo legacy?
  2. haha i was waiting for that. Na i like twin just hate the problems. It reaches boost fine when reved and sounds normal. Checked both boost relief valves which are good. suspecting split hose somewhere or maybe secondary but it makes the noise only under load and from 2000 rpm upwards except in the vod.
  3. The old gtb must hate me. Another thing has broke, as the primary turbo spools it bads a bad noise like a loud like a whistle spool up noise and doesn't make enough boost to trigger the stock bov though when on the second turbo it opens the bov and when reved sounds normal. Is it time for a primary?
  4. Yea twin, that would be sweet az. got to fix my new problem first
  5. Just wondering what sort of after market top mount intercoolers are out there that are more or less bolt on for a gtb. Are the sti ones off the rexs able to fit? Also it there any piping to replace the brittle restrictive turbo to intercooler piping.
  6. Thanks, I think i have a ej20tt throttle body around here somewhere with a tps. water temp sensor would be appreciated providing its good. How much do you want for it?
  7. Since ive got my 96 gtb running its been using 15-18l/100km with its new afm of mix of town and open road calmish driving :'( . this doesn't sound so good according to the other posts. I put it in diagnostics mode and pulled a code 21 and 31 (water temp sensor and throttle position) though i had no cel prior to running diagnostics mode. My question is how much will it cost to replace these sensors and wheres the best place to go? Also could it be this causing the problems? Thanks
  8. Well i believe if the boxes physically fudged theres no bringing it back doesnt matter what oil. the oil i have in it must have been causing the sector sliding part to bind to the shaft. if anything else goes wrong its getting a new box. How much is it likely to cost for a box to suit?
  9. Could be. its still a lil notchy into 2nd now but heaps better than what it was and i can get it into all gears now lol. i have used fuchs oil in a few cars with good results as with castrol syntrax but that stuffs bloody expensive
  10. All better now ;D Fuchs gear oil fixed it. On my personal blacklisted oils now: Valvoline synthetic gearbox oil (lost gears in my old barina after a week after changing) Royal semi-synthetic
  11. anyone got another gearbox to suit?
  12. Metal shavings in my new oil :'(
  13. 140km. all the gears are back but dodgy. Edit it does have a fairly worn selector bushing but i dont think that its bad enough to cause this. might go get some new fuchs fully synthetic oil
  14. Just been out for a quick drive after cleaning down the engine and coming home the gearbox wouldn't let me into 3rd gear or 5th and gets stuck in 1st as well as 2nd and 4th being dodgy. Is my gearbox fudged? Its a 1996 gtb and its got 600km old 75w90 royal semi-synthetic gear oil in it.

    Rear sway bar

Yea i ended up going to the wreakers and paying $20 for 2nd hand links. They would have been $110 new from partmaster. All wofed up but no insurance
  16. Thanks for the help, where would be the best place to get a replacement?
  17. Ohh never had one haha is it just the gtbs that have got one?
  18. Since the new engine has been put in the clutch cylinder has been removed and bled but still has a fair but oF sponginess and gets stuck almost to the floor when shifting at high rpm. What could cause this?

    Rear sway bar

Is it illegal to remove the rear sway bar off a bg5? the sway links are worn and i need a wof asap, could i remove it to get a wof then refit with new bushes at a later time?
  20. remember to run an engine off this it only works if you introduce little or no added air otherwise its just leans out the mix of hydrogen to air because theres already oxygen in the mix. I know because Ive run small engines off it and even they need a good couple liters a min to run. IMHO they are only good for making gas to use for other explosive things hehe. Ps, think of all the water going through your engine and exhaust system as well as some of the electrolyte if you used one. people have destroyed valves doing this. Just my 2c
  21. Ok il have a look, its currently in the middle of an engine swap and is on stands at the moment, thanks for the advice
  22. is there a way to set it back up properly if only ones been loosened without dismantling the gearbox?
  23. ahh thawt tey wer for preload damn, well it was my lil bro dat undid it haha
  24. what are the rings on the gearbox around the cv joints for? what happens if ones been loosend and tightend back up to feeling pretty tight :
  25. i had an ej20 g or h in it that someone put in my gtb and it had smooth valve covers, grey injectors though and 3 wire ignition coils so its puzzling, does the 96 ej20r have a centre thrust crank?
