  1. Ah that's good news zarnah. I shall give it a go this weekend when I get to the car and hopefully that should work aswell.
  2. Wait, nipples at the top ?? Well, hmmm. I didn't actually check that. A friend handed them to me, and said "Yep, this is the left side, better make sure we get it right" and then we bolted them on. But, no, the nipples are at the bottom. crap.
  3. That was pretty much how it was done. One came off, the other straight on. The beer and spanking was saved till afterwards.
  4. Actually just the fronts, as I was told that the rears still had the fluid in them, and didn't need it. Would they be mistaken ?? God how embarrassing if that's the case.
  5. Right, will try to fix today, otherwise will go out and buy a brand new one from somewhere. Thanks for all your help guys.
  6. Sorry, just read the whole post, cool, so I can actually just clean it out if the cups (?) are fine. We shall try that first.
  7. We bled them last time also, using the same tools. Your suggestion does seem like the most likely then. Cool. If I can find any brake cylinder off a subaru WRX, whether it's sti, or standard, turbo or not, or any year, it will be fine ?
  8. Oh really ?? Not doubting you, but wouldn't this also have happened a couple of months ago when they were bled ? So you don't think it would be related to the old fluid ? If it does need replacing, does anyone know, are all subaru master brake cylinders created equal ?
  9. Hi All, Yesterday we put some 4 pot STI calipers on my STI RA, where there were previously 2 pots. New disks and pads also. After bleeding and bleeding, and going through like 2 litres of 5.1 fluid, they are just dangerous. Foot goes flat to the floor, and only after pumping like 2-3 times is there any braking. Checked all bolts for leaks, there are none. There are also braided brake lines. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this, or experienced it ? The only thing that is different, is the brake fluid had been opened, and had been sitting there for a couple of months. Currently I can't drive the car anywhere
  10. I wouldn't recommend Hawk pads. Lasted only two events, and wore the OEM disc right down. Just standard 2pots on the front. I suspect they are just very hard wearing. I have good fluid and braided lines, and it still didn't feel 100% around Manfield. I'm going to Endless now on a recommendation. Also, someone mentioned something in an earlier post, they don't all have slotted discs ( AMG OEM discs ) :
  11. Yes indeed, it is the car of trademe from down south ! Yep, he was lucky alright all round. Just an unfortunate mistake I think, nothing major so I'm not too concerned.
  12. I'll find out after it's been delivered to Al Mclennan this week. Hopefully just re-alignment needed. And that bumper fixed somehow.
  13. It was a close call for sure. There were a raft of people who stopped down the bottom to take pics. And a couple more cop cars that just stopped down the bottom to take pics and drove off. The copper was a lovely young lady. Really helpful and all. Didn't really say too much about the blame, though I suspect she'll get back to the driver with some sort of "careless driving", "dangerous driving", "I'm a damn muppet driving" charge. And yep, DCCD was wound to the back, so maybe he expected it to go more like a normal 4WD car than the 2WD way it did ? Nah, there definitely wasn't any alcohol or other substance involved, I wouldn't let myself or anyone near my car. Maybe he was going a "bit fast up the hill" she said, but not over the speed limit maybe. Yeah, need to talk to him as he's gotta pay for it to get fixed.
  14. Yeah, no idea how he did it. I mean, coming *up* the hill. And no skid marks either. First impressions are maybe he was hanging it out up the hill and couldn't correct it properly. The front left wheel is completely off camber, so that's why I thought it safer to flat bed. The wheels are, ummm, lightweight Sprint Harts I think.
  15. So, lesson learned here, sometimes not a good idea to lend a car to a friend to go to the corner shops. And thanks to Stoffa for helping out.
  16. I guess the big reason is, there is no replacement for displacement ? Or so says my friend upgrading his 2.6 to 2.8. I assumed ( maybe wrongly ) that there were so many stroker kits for cars to solve this. Then again, I only use my car on the track, so maybe that wouldn't be as big of a deal. As mentioned, I really am new to all this
  17. Just a question in here, what constitutes a full on race car though ? Is that in relation to the amount of power you are trying to put out, or maybe the reliability you'd expect ? If it's power, what can a open deck go up to ( or does it not work like that ?? ) After having my car for a couple of months I'm looking at what the next stage for an engine transplant might be. And, I've been looking at those 2.5l shortblocks. I'd expect that it would be a good idea to change out all the pistons, bearings (<--insert other engine related stuff that may need to be replaced that I have no idea what they're called ) i do have a 2.5l block thingie in the garage with no other bits, but I don't know anything more about it. Have a v5 sti ra btw.
