  2. i didnt know that, when jack the muss 22b was here in palmy i remember it was a bit rough.
  3. if your car is over 20years and you can prove you only do something like less than 5k ayear you can register it as a classic. ask LTSA
  4. interesting so only 200 special interest are allocated each year and can only be private import for personal use not as your main vehicle. Still have the issues of finding one for sale from Japan as ive heard UK have imported the majority of 22Bs
  5. to be classic it has to be 20 years and older ive tried this line with LTSA to get a cheaper registration. No exceptions i was told.
  6. how? they dont have airbags or emission gear and over 10 years old.
  7. i see in the Uk prices for 22Bs are on there way up and no shortage of buyers. there was one guy in the Uk that brought a 22B off the insurance company for 500 pounds and rebuilt it. The Insurance company thought it was a normal type R.
  8. No its in storage at his friends garage somewhere in the south island. I have personal seen his car and its in mint original condition done 49ks i think. only mod is defi gauges. It was imported by Armstrongs from Japan, so not NZ new. I think he got it at what it owed them at the time. Cant import the 22Bs into NZ any more and getting harder to find them. i presume NZ has less than a dozen examples, maybe less. rumours that 1 has been written off in Christchurch years ago.
  9. yeah i got him on my facebook and you should see the cars he works on and drives.
  10. his name is Nick Slade a friend of mine #339/400 hes a F1 mechanic
  11. any chance of taking some engine and interior shots for me? you can pm me. be interested to see if it is still modified or back to standard. Also is your boss going to resell it or for his private collection? Dave
  12. so that means $50k wholesale value and prob $60k retail. Boostin do you work for wingers?
  13. yes thats the one. i remember seeing it for sale at rose city cars in Palm Nth. I didnt like the blue upholstery, this was properly why it was hard to sell. I remember it was a bit rough as well. I did hear Darryl spent a bit off money cleaning her up.
  14. can anyone take a picture of the 22b at wingers and post it here. heres a link of the owner of 22bsti his name is Darryl he is the Indian guy. a public photo so hope he doesnt mine. http://picasaweb.google.com/wrxsticlub/GCPDynoDay2006#5123113174368848402 and heres a pic of the possum borne tribute car from sweat and blood http://picasaweb.google.com/wrxsticlub/TrackDay2007#5097358104689376578 i never clicked that Darryl owned this as well.
  15. yes they all come from japan but subaru nz were allocated only 5 to be sold brand new. carjam shows if it was previous reg in another country reg 22bsti was previous reg in Japan and if you look at mine reg a88888 previous reg says NO. look under title registration in carjam.
  16. that 22b use to belong to temuru morrison from once was warriors. the interior has had a retrim as it use to be blue leather. The owner wanted 75k for it at the beginning of the year, be interested whats he wants for it now. its also an import from Japan not NZ new. #32/400
  17. Just putting it out there any one driving down from Auckland to Palm Nth soon and have space for some dumbells? If so pm me. Thanks Dave
  18. only prop is the factory sealant is $90. that 22b sump was mine i sold it to that chap along with a used tube of sealant. as above it is a bugger to remove. but not that hard. i just uesd t a block of 4x2 wood and a hammer to wack mine off. just make sure all the old glue is removed prior to refitting. If i was going to do this again i would get the sump polished while its off.
  19. im in palmy i would have checked it out for you. Dave
  20. i started collecting these 2 years ago. i have also brought and sold many autoart models as well, just keeping the best ones in my collection. `The theme i started with was GC8 only but now thinking of also collecting some of the rarer version 7 wrc models and maybe all the wrc evo 6 models as these are in very high demand. But downside is it takes time and lots of money, upside is they appreciate in value. There was a chap in the US that was selling his full collection of subaru wrc cars made by autoart for US$10k.
  21. If you want to start collecting these i would start now as the exchange rate is very good and they wont get any cheaper.
  22. cheapest place is on trademe theres one at the moment http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=287660110 finishing sunday and is cheap at $150 as this model sells for 175 pounds on ebay.uk i currently have almost all the autoart gc8s, which are the most collectibles of the subaru range. the road version sti v7 and 8 aren't worth anything i also have a mit evo6.5 in red which is worth 300pounds in the uk. There is a huge following overseas for these models as they are now over 10 years old and are becoming quite rare. the ones to watch out for are the subaru models with lightpods, blue gc8 type r, white and blue gc8 sedan, wrc evo7 #10,6,1 and the rarest subaru of them all is the gc8 wrc burns and reid with the lightpod they sell for 300-400 pounds. what model are you wanting?
