  1. I remember being told that that factory BG legacy 16" bbs wheels won't fit a gc8 with 4 pots? Is this correct? If so I'm assuming spacers all round? How big? I'm sick of the bad Christchurch roads and the 17's, so going to change back to 16's.
  2. That... I forgot to check... I'm going to borrow a multimeter and check tomorrow hopefully. I hope that the solar trickle charger is enough, sometimes the car doesn't get driven for weeks.
  3. If the battery is fully charged then it's lucky to last 2 days. Battery has been tested a few times in different ways and always come back 100%, it's not anything in the car, the only thing I haven't tested is the alarm since I'm not sure how to. Although since everything else came back fine I assume it's the alarm.
  4. Ok fair enough... It does say not to start whilst it's connected to the battery directly, so perhaps I'll put a switch inside to turn it off when starting and driving.
  5. Is there a way on a GC8 to make the cigarette lighter work all the time when the ignition is off? Basically I have a battery drain somewhere, I'm almost 100% sure it's the alarm, but the alarm is working perfectly, so I'd rather not play with it incase I fudge it. I bought a solar trickle charger that can either go straight to the battery or through the cigarette lighter, although I would assume it wouldnt work unless the lighter is going.
  6. Is it a wrx? Do you mind snapping a pic?
  7. So something like a 205/45/18 or 205/40/18?
  8. Thanks. Just looking forward to any problems pics on a gc8... can anyone tell me the offset and width of the rims?
  9. I'm seriously thinking about shaping out my mags for the factory 18" straight spoke wheels that come on the BP turbo Legacy. Anyone done this? Any pics? Am I going to be able to use the factory tyre size? I also assume these will fit over factory 4 pot brakes?
  10. Mine are the fabric ones, but I thought some leather patches in black would look ok and wear pretty good.
  11. In my GC8 the right hand bolster of the drivers seat is starting to wear the fabric. Has anyone ever had patches, leather or otherwise sewn over the bolsters on both the bottom of the seat or the back to stop the wearing?
  12. Well I guess the next port of call will be to unplug the stereo, clock, interior lights and the door sensors 1 at a time till i find the culprit.
  13. Yes the radio keeps memory, and both interior light and boot light work with all 4 doors and the boot opening and closing.
  14. Sorry the fuse on the inside is clock - radio. So there's 2 fuses for the clock? Maybe my first port of call I should check the stereo, it's aftermarket, make sure all the wiring is correct.
  15. Battery is not that old, also had 3 separate tests on it from different people, all came back fine. Can't remember exactly how many amps now, but after pulling all the fuses and relays this was the only fuse that changed the reading. How many amps is normal? There is also a clock fuse inside the car, so are there 2 clock fuses?
  16. Having issues with the my 99 gc8 draining the battery. I did the pull the fuses whilst I have a multimeter in series on the battery. The only fuse or relay that changes how much is being drawn on the battery is the Clock-room fuse in the engine bay. What exactly does this fuse do? It seems to control the the door sensors that turn on the interior light? I pull it, the alarm goes off, I reset the alarm and it beeps as if a door is open. I checked the door sensors and they all seem to work properly including the boot. Can anyone help?
  17. The battery was hooked up to some machine, I had to start the car, turn it off, off and on with the lights etc and it came back 100%. It's a sealed battery and the little window is green which apparently means good. How do I go about doing a current draw test?
  18. It does have an alarm, but it's pretty basic, nothing fancy like gps.
  19. Something is draining my battery in my '99 wrx wagon, any longer than 2-3 days without use and my car needs a jump start. Had the battery tested and it was 100% as is the alternator. So where do I start? I have a multimeter, I'm assuming this isn't going to be easy... What could cause this? Bad earth or something similar?
  20. Sub Fan is passenger side, Main fan is drivers side. In engine bay, all 3 relays and 3 fuses have to be good. Sub Relay/Sub Fuse Main Relay/Main Fuse AC Relay/AC Fuse In the Cabin just the one AC fuse looking at diagrams. Edit: My BH has the gas view glass near the battery.
  21. So far I\'ve only found the 1 A/C relay in the box next to the battery and the 15amp fuse in the fuse box in the dash on the right hand side underneath. Any clue as to where else I can find the other fuses or relays? I did notice that in the engine bay that there are 3 fan relays, 2 main fan relays and 1 sub fan relay? Is the sub fan relay the one for the air con fan?
  22. Also the fuse on the inside fuse box is fine and I swapped the relay out for another in the engine bay I know works and nothing again. Will the air con not work if the gas is had it or empty?
  23. Hi all, I have a \'99 NZ new WRX Wagon. It has air conditioning fitting, but it doesn\'t work. The button lights up when you press it, however the revs don\'t change when you\'re at idol. The belt seems to be fine and spinning the pump. On an old car of mine that had air con there was a little window on a condenser or something similar that showed whether or not the air con was OK depending of the color, do the WRX\'s have one of these? What else should I look for?
