How quick does it drain bat? You would be far better off just starting the car for a couple of minutes every few nights.

If the battery is fully charged then it's lucky to last 2 days. Battery has been tested a few times in different ways and always come back 100%, it's not anything in the car, the only thing I haven't tested is the alarm since I'm not sure how to. Although since everything else came back fine I assume it's the alarm.

  2. Is there a way on a GC8 to make the cigarette lighter work all the time when the ignition is off?

Basically I have a battery drain somewhere, I'm almost 100% sure it's the alarm, but the alarm is working perfectly, so I'd rather not play with it incase I fudge it.

I bought a solar trickle charger that can either go straight to the battery or through the cigarette lighter, although I would assume it wouldnt work unless the lighter is going.

  3. In my GC8 the right hand bolster of the drivers seat is starting to wear the fabric.

Has anyone ever had patches, leather or otherwise sewn over the bolsters on both the bottom of the seat or the back to stop the wearing?

  4. Battery is not that old, also had 3 separate tests on it from different people, all came back fine.

Can't remember exactly how many amps now, but after pulling all the fuses and relays this was the only fuse that changed the reading. How many amps is normal?

There is also a clock fuse inside the car, so are there 2 clock fuses?

  5. Having issues with the my 99 gc8 draining the battery. I did the pull the fuses whilst I have a multimeter in series on the battery.

The only fuse or relay that changes how much is being drawn on the battery is the Clock-room fuse in the engine bay.

What exactly does this fuse do? It seems to control the the door sensors that turn on the interior light?

I pull it, the alarm goes off, I reset the alarm and it beeps as if a door is open.

I checked the door sensors and they all seem to work properly including the boot.

    Can anyone help?

was load test carried out on the battery? a lot of us just test the battery using multimeter to test voltage, which come in as 100% but the main thing is the load test which will determine the cold cranking amp (CCA) of the battery. eg if your battery is rated @ 600cca and is only giving 300amps than its **** itself. this will be determined by a load tester. if cca is ok than do a current draw test, this will determine if any of you electrical item is drawing too much current. current draw on standard subies are 0.03amps.

The battery was hooked up to some machine, I had to start the car, turn it off, off and on with the lights etc and it came back 100%. It's a sealed battery and the little window is green which apparently means good.

How do I go about doing a current draw test?

  7. Something is draining my battery in my '99 wrx wagon, any longer than 2-3 days without use and my car needs a jump start.

Had the battery tested and it was 100% as is the alternator.

So where do I start? I have a multimeter, I'm assuming this isn't going to be easy...

What could cause this? Bad earth or something similar?

Make sure your second radiator fan is plugged in and working, I think the AC wont turn on if the Fans not working.

Also there\'s multiple relays for the Air Con, engine bay/drivers foot well. Also multiple fuses I think, including the big 30amp in the engine bay.

Afaik gas or lack of gas, can\'t stop the Air con from trying it\'s hardest.

Cool I\'ll double check everything tomorrow.

I know both radiator fans work, I was watching them today to make sure they both came on.

So far I\'ve only found the 1 A/C relay in the box next to the battery and the 15amp fuse in the fuse box in the dash on the right hand side underneath.

Any clue as to where else I can find the other fuses or relays?

I did notice that in the engine bay that there are 3 fan relays, 2 main fan relays and 1 sub fan relay? Is the sub fan relay the one for the air con fan?

Sub Fan is passenger side, Main fan is drivers side.

In engine bay, all 3 relays and 3 fuses have to be good.

    Sub Relay/Sub Fuse

    Main Relay/Main Fuse

    AC Relay/AC Fuse

In the Cabin just the one AC fuse looking at diagrams.

Edit: My BH has the gas view glass near the battery.

  10. Hi all, I have a \'99 NZ new WRX Wagon. It has air conditioning fitting, but it doesn\'t work. The button lights up when you press it, however the revs don\'t change when you\'re at idol.

The belt seems to be fine and spinning the pump.

On an old car of mine that had air con there was a little window on a condenser or something similar that showed whether or not the air con was OK depending of the color, do the WRX\'s have one of these?

What else should I look for?
