  1. Hey

I was getting very poor fuel economy out of my BG5 Legacy GT so have replaced the spark plugs with 1.1mm gapped plugs. I have always had a miss under load but it seems to be worse now.. Checked the CEL codes and its so not sure what I should be looking for? Knock sensor, AFM, O2sensor? Re gap plugs would this help? What are people thoughts?

    Cheers

  2. Hey guys so doing a simple replacement of pads has turned a little harder than 1st thought. With the bottom caliper bolt off the caliper tilts up but I cant budge the top bolt. The pads wont fit in and I THINK the top pin has seized. Couple of questions. The top pin has no thread right it just a locating slider? Ive pulled the caliper and bracket off and am now trying to get it sliding on the pin. Any tips? cheers

  3. Hey guys, so I need to do some chassis work on the legacy and I need to remove the drivers side cambelt covers. I know the front ones are 3 piece so I can remove just the side I want but what is the rear. Is it 3 piece or one entire piece? cheers

  4. Ok dont know the car but thermostats are mechanically operated and dont usually have sensors..things may have changed with newer cars..and I never knew you could get a 3 digit code..again have things changed??

  5. Hey guys going on holiday and taking the legacy. What tools do you think I need to take incase of issues..

Sockets 10,12,14. extension and spark plug socket

    Small adjustable cresent

    Flat head and phillips screwdrivers

2 x pliers no needle nose yet.

    Rubber tubing for heater pipes

    Hose clamp

    Insulation tape

    Knife

    ?

    ?

Lol as can be seen this man has had previous issues on long road trips..cheers guys

  6. Ok update..with further investigating and testing Ive found a very small hole right on the second nib of the metal pipe..so right at the end where the rubber hose finished..so now I can either pull the manifold off and find a replacement or patch it up with some sort of chemi weld..Ideally I know what I would do but is chemi weld just as good an option?

why would you piss around with sealant etc? buy a new bit of hose from repco

Im not pissing around with the hose as its not the hose thats the problem. Its the connection between the hose and the metal pipe. They are not forming a perfect seal for some reason and its leaking like a sieve. Ive tried other hoses on it and the same thing happens. It looks like the metal pipe is slightly corroded so Ive given it a light sand and it still leaks. Do I need to fit an undersize hose?

  8. Ok cheers DrunkenMonkey.. have pulled the header tank off and found the leak..its where the hose that connects the header tank to the smaller pipe meets? I dont know what its called, where it attaches to etc.. I have trouble shooted with the hose and its definitely not the hose its the actual point of connection. Ive have tried with different hose clamps but the actual end of the coolent pipe is a bit corroded and not getting a good enough seal.. what are my options here? to get a replacement metal pipe (dont know hat it is or how big) or use a sealant and extreme hose clamps to get a good seal? cheers

  9. Hey guys will try keep this brief.. After a bit of help..I have a BG5 legacy GT that has all of a sudden developed a leak around or below the header tank maybe? Ok it started a couple of days ago when i noticed a brownish small puddle below my car..Checked the engine and noticed a pool of water sitting on top of the block below the inlet manifold..Also the day before I got a CEL with a code 21 coolant temp sensor..Have pulled the alternator off to get a better look but dont see anything there. the header tank is empty and once filled it slowly empties itself..

Ok has anyone else had a similar problem? What are the likely causes and what should I start pulling off to investigate? also the code 21.. would this trigger if no coolant is going past the sensor?

    Cheers guys

  10. Ok my BG5 legacy TT manual stalled and would not start again at the lights this morning. At first instance I though fuel so checked fuel filter was fine although fuel looked dirtyish and with fuel filter off I was not getting any fuel with ignition on. Pulled the fuel pump and bench tested it. Didnt spin for the first few tries then suddenly spun for a second then didnt spin for another 5 tries. Really intermittenet.. Is this a faulty fuel pump? cheers

  11. Ok this is my problem hope someone can help me out. Have a 94 Legacy TT Auto. It drives fine till it has to change up from 3rd to 4th gear(overdrive). A lot of the time especially if it has been floored or has been holding 3rd up a hill it will stick in 3rd for a minute or even longer sometimes shorter without changing up. I can physically feel a looseness in the accelerator pedal and then when it does eventually change to 4th I can feel the pedal move out about 5mm and tighten up as per normal. I have no real idea. Trans fluid flushed still I have this problem. Has been like this for a couple of years and no one can work it out..Cheers
