  1. I picked this car up expecting to have to replace the clutch in the not too distant future. The friction point is only a little off the top of the clutch pedal travel. Just wondering if it was worth while bleeding the clutch, or if anyone could tell me if there was any way to adjust the engagement point.

  2. Had another play around today. It seems that the right side is about 5 degrees cooler than the left side - So if I set the left side to 25 Id have to set the right side to 30 to get the same temp air blowing out of them. Are there 2 separate temp sensors in the cabin or do both sides use the same sensor?

I dont think its a blocked heater coil because when it automatically changes from the face vents to the floor vents warm air starts coming out. The point at which it does that is set 5 degrees warmer that when it happens on the left side. I hope that makes sense.

  3. Sorry if this has been covered before. In my BP5 the drivers side heater is acting up. Runs fine on cool, but as you ramp the temp up it stays fairly cool. The air gets redirected towards your feet etc. like it should, its just doesnt get a whole heap warmer. Once it gets above 30 degrees on the control it gets a little warmer, but nowhere near as much as the passenger side set at the same temp. Ideas?

Thanks for the heads up, but hoping to get hold of a manual. Im another couple of weeks away from being in the market anyways.

Actually had our Torneo stolen last week so waiting on insurance. Problem is that out car is still touring around the country doing drive offs at fuel stations etc. so If were unlucky it will be recovered... If were lucky its still a 3 week wait from the date it was stolen before they will pay out.

Ok plan "B" is to get a car with a few more k's on the clock and keep some cash aside for a potential rebuild down the track. What would I be looking at for a typical rebuild if I lost a BEB? Would 3k aside be enough?

If youre interested in my old 1999 B4, I might be able to convince the new owner to sell, owes him $5500.

Known service history since 64,000 kms, gearbox recently replaced, interior real good, full nurspec system. Titronic though.

Only considering manual wagons at this stage. Thanks for the offer though.

  6. Apologies if this has been brought up before but I was wanting some clarification on the EJ208's. Im looking at getting a BK RS4 manual but Im a little concerned about the potential for head gasket failure.

I used to own a '96 GTB wagon which I think was the EJ20R which quit on me due to the head gasket giving up and venting exhaust gases into the water jacket and from what I understand this wasnt all that uncommon.

Because of this Im a little gun shy of going the EJ20 route again and was hoping someone might be able to fill me in on whether this was still an issue with the later engines.
