  1. Hey guys,

A friend of mine bought a Subaru Impreza GT (MY1999) that has been swapped with an STI 5 speed transmission (TY754VBAAA) and he broke a tooth on the first gear.

We have no vin/chassis number from which the transmission came from and so far, I was able to trace it to part numbers 32231AA650/32231AA651, but I am not 100% sure if this is the correct part.

I was wondering if anyone has this gearbox and can provide us with vin/chassis number or measurements of the 1st gear to confirm.

    Many Thanks!!

Fairly sure the factory yellows are 440cc @ 80% IDC and 550cc @ 100% IDC. You can get aftermarket 880cc side feeds.

What are your power goals?, if you want factory "new" injectors i'd have thought 2nd hand side feed yellows would be cheap and get them cleaned/flow tested

Not really after any power upgrade, just trying to replace the old injectors at the moment. I reckon the adapters could be useful for future upgrades that's why I'm thinking on going that route...

  3. USD 184.60Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there is a plug and play replacement for my Impreza sti v3 injectors (yellow side feed). Also, anyone knows for sure what's the flow rate? I've been reading different information everywhere and I couldn't get anything from the manufacturer. In fact, I'm not even sure what's the manufacturer for these ones!

Some people say these are 440cc, others 480cc and a whole other bunch of people say 550cc (Part # 16611AA231). I wanted to replace them with new ones but these are quite expensive (USD 184 in jp-carparts and USD 134 in partsouq, each!) and hard to get. Does anyone know a direct replacement that can be used? or perhaps a rebuild kit? or any ideas on a replacement for these ones without breaking the bank!! LOL

    Cheers guys!

  4. Hi guys, anyone knows what's the right valve clearance for the EJ20K heads? All the manuals I found were for US market...

Also, does anyone have asorted shims? After I measure all the clearances I'll know which ones I need...

    Chees!

  5. Hey guys,

Thanks for the tips! And sorry for such a looong delay in posting!!

When I bought the car I knew that it was going to need some work done!

After a few days found a huge leak on the oil cooler hose underneath and started to remove the radiator, cooling hoses, etc. Put new hoses in, replaced everything and started it back. After 2 min of letting it run, it didn't even reach operating temp smoke was comming off on the left side of the engine... short story: found oil traces in the coolant :(

Then I thought, I'll take the engine off and do head gaskets and some other stuff while I'm there... water pump, tensioner, idlers, maybe even oil pump, re-seal the oil sump, most of the seals and gaskets that I could change there too.

So last week, I managed to take the engine out and I have it sitting on the engine stand. Only had time to take the exhaust and the timing belt covers so far...

    Will upload some pics tomorrow!

Any recommended place in Auckland to take the heads for strength testing and skimming? Cheers!

  6. Hi guys, I've got a 97 wrx sti with an EJ20K that has a blown head gasket.

I will be taking the engine off and I was wondering what else would be good to do while I'm at it, since I'm taking it off anyway...

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Dunno if armstrongs would give it out. Tried doing that with the tauranga subaru since their prices were going to bankrupt me and they told me it was company policy to never give out part numbers. Maybe if you're in the trade you'd have a bit more luck though

I always ask for a catalog of parts and the part number but they never give it away...

However, I was able to find this page which has a pretty comprehensive part numbers catalog (with diagrams): http://jp-carparts.com/subaru/carlist.php?maker=subaru

Haven't bought anything from these guys since they haven't replied my inquiries but their catalog is a great tool!
