  1. Thanks for the info guys! so for my legacy GTB with it only having a bigger exhaust, K&N filter and maybe a new computer tune in the future there would be no real point im performing this mod?? I gues its only a must when the boost is upped a heap?
  2. Hey i see quite often that people are doing a "split fuel rail setup", I was just wondering why exactly people do this? I have had a wee look around the forum but cant seem to find anything as to why it gets done ????
  3. Yea I have but it's all in Japanese lol and i cant find anything regarding the computer specs just prices and the likes.

Speaking from experience your burning smell will be the rocker cover gaskets as I have had that same problem with same symptoms, get genuine Subaru rocker gaskets if you can afford it when you do something about it as I had them fitted and have done 15,000km with no probs where as a friend of mine got a set from BNT and they lasted 2,000kms before they started leaking again.

Hey guys, I've been looking for a computer upgrade for my BG Leggy for a while now and the other day I came across a "SYMS" Japanese racing chipped computer for my model car, the guy selling it doesn't know anything about it nor has he driven a car with it in but I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this company before or if there's anyone out there running this type of computer chip at present? I have a bad feeling it could just be a "crank up the boost" kind of item which will eventually end up wreaking my perfectly good engine, any insight would be awesome so I know I'm not wasting my money on it. Cheers!
  6. On my mates 99 GTB he keeps bucking the wheels quite badly eg they cant be balanced out, does anyone know why this would keep happening? Running standard 17s, It sits on HKS springs which are very low eg tyre under guard slightly, the shocks bottom out all the time due to this, my thoughts are this is whats causing the wheels to bend, tyres always run correct pressure, anyone out there got any clues?

I have a K&N panel fitted to my GTB and no mater what we do we cant get the air box to close perfectly like it would factory, I thought it might be just my car but my mate has a BH gtb and it does the same thing, K&N assure us we have the right filter for our cars, it all clips up fine but just doesn't seem to close as it did before the filter's were fitted, the upper edge (outside guard side) sticks up slightly, just wanting to know if anyone else has struck this problem????? (defiantly gives the gtb a new lease on life though).
  8. Does anyone know what engine oil I should be running in my 97 TT Legacy?? Chch subby service centre has run GTX protec 15/40 the last two service times - I told them I thought it was shit warehouse grade oil, I made a random ph call to them and asked what it should be running and they told me Magnatec 10/30, why they put that other shit in there I'll never know, in my mates 99 B4 TT with 180,000kms on it they run Magnatec 5/30 at the same place, my cars only done 90,000km I thought a light grade oil would be better, every place I call they tell me something different, is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction???

Took my BG5 leggy out for a drive the other day after being the garage for the past 4 months I noticed my primary turbo was making one hell of a noise, kind of made the car sound like a space ship lol, When I used it as a daily driver I noticed a bit of whine bt no more than others, the car runs extremely well and the primary turbo still works fine but the noise really "spooked" me, it's only done just on 89km and come in to the country with service records and only 52km on the clock and i have religiously kept it maintained, it's all pretty standard apart from a K&N panel filter and big muffler, I just thought I should expect more life out of it, has anyone else had these probs? Have talked to local turbo rebuilders and they said "rip it out and throw the bloody thing away!!" which is fine as the mechanical warranty will fit the bill, but both the mechanics and the warranty company want to fit a brand new genuine item, I just wondered if there is any point looking at an upgrade while it's out or will a genuine item do the trick? Also wondered if the 1st one had thrown the towel in would the 2nd one be on its was out also? Can anyone shed some light on my little problem? Cheerz!
  10. Hey it might be a coincidence but I have noticed that my BG5 wont get any 2nd turbo and bugga all boost in first if I have next to no gas in the tank eg on fuel light - might be something to consider.
