  1. The one on my legacy got like that, "jerky" performance is how I\'d describe it, and you could hear it whining really badly while it was idling, sounded like a hover craft!! Took it to mechanic and he said "hmmm they\'re not meant to sound like that" You hearing the same whining?
  2. Hi people, Pulled another strut out of the wagon today to send away to get looked at and I notice my top hat bearings in the front are getting very notchy, like they\'re grabbing which can\'t be good. I\'ve put grease in them - no change, does anyone know if you can have new bearings fitted or what\'s the go? They look rather sealed...... Many thanks!!!
  3. Ok this "George" sound can you elaborate on this lol, the sound I\'m getting is kind of a funny whistley groan it\'s pretty strange, what will flipping the valve around do? Cheers!!
  4. Hi, am trying to track down a funny whistle sound comming from my engine bay, also revs under idle drop at times, have had AFM rebuilt ect, I\'m leaning towards th BOV leaking. Now I\'ve removed the BOV and it might sound like a dopey question but are you meant to be able to blow a bit of air through the inlet to it when its off the car or are they meant to be 100% airtight, I\'d imagine if I can do this that the seal is getting worn and I could imagine a couple psi leaking past it under load as the whistle sound only comes in under light boost. 1997 gtb legacy Any help would be great
  5. Trying to get my flatmates wrx running properly for him, is missing and farting and jerking around, wont go above 80kms an hour, was like this from the day he got it. Have done the following: Ecu check - got code 23 & 24, so re-soldered the AFM terminals and done a ecu reset and no more code 23 & 24, but is now showing a code 51 - neutral switch and still running like a bag of crap!! So question is would that code be causing these probs or is there something else going on? I wouldn't have thought something so simple would cause so many probs. Many thanks!!!
  6. Hi there, on my BG wagon the heater unit lights aren't working any more - just the ones behind the buttons. I know there's a how to on pulling the unit out on here somewhere but I need to know where I can buy new bulbs (short of pulling apart 5 second hand units to find good bulbs) Cheers guys!!!
  7. "Flat4" Whats your thoughts on those Re002's? Im booked in for a full set on the GTB tomorrow - would be nice to have some real world feedback before I say goodbye to around $900 Cheers!

    Broken IACV

Sweet I'll give that a go then, were you able to get a gasket from anywhere for it or did you just make one? Cheers!

No ones had this prob before???
  11. Howdy all, last nite the old Rs started playing up and doing funny things and has spat out a code 24 (idle air control valve) makes sense seeing as it was revving all over the show, my question is what's the usual fix for these? Can they be repaired or should I replace it with a second hand one? And can you get the gaskets from ripco and the likes?
  12. Hello all, Just wondering why the boost in my 91 Rs flings up to 11psi when it comes on boost then slowly drops back down to 8-9psi? Its got a vf8 on it - unsure if this is factory or not? No mods other than noisy muffler, all vac hoses seem to be going where they should ect
  13. My new RS facelift, this is the first of hopefully many pics to come, is going to be my project car so will be looking for help in many places soon, any ideas that anyone's got would be mint too
  14. Yeah don't think so, id say the clutch will be on its last legs but its definitely missing that spring though!!! Thanks heaps bud you've saved me alot of dicking around
  15. Is this the one I should be able to see by the clutch slave? Or is there another one somewhere? Thanks
  16. Hello all, its been a while since Ive been on here but is good to be back having a look around Riteo I've just brought a new project car (Black 91 RS Facelift) the problem is when your giving it some herbs when you take your foot back of the clutch between gear changes it doesn't pop back out completely, normal putting around and its fine, it eventually comes back out fully but takes a while to do so, it doesn't seem to be slipping at all once you put the power back on when the pedal is sitting down. I've bled the lines fully and it hasnt made any difference, the pedal mechanisim is moving freely also.... Any ideas people? many thanks
  17. I've given this a go on my GTB and found the results to be hmmmmm almost pointless, I found the engine responded better with the airbox in and you really had to listen out for the "gruntier" engine note. I ended up putting it all back in how it was from factory. Just my experience
  18. Personally I'd just chuck a lower set of springs in it as the Bilstien struts are pretty good anyways. Main thing to remember with a Subaru (or any turbo car) is service the hell out of it lol and be wary that being twin turbo you should keep the mods (engine wise) to a minimum!! Or then you'll start having problems. Great to see another ex mitsy boy getting into a subby!! (seems to be happening a lot lately ;D)
  19. Hi guys and girls, I had a wee search but have found nothing, I'm wanting to know what the usual signs of the AFM packing it in are (if there are any "usual" signs) My GTB wagon has now clocked up 120kms and does the odd "random" thing from time to time, Jumpy idle when cold - not always though Random engine stall for a slit second - maybe happens once a fortnight When A/C is on the motor dies when you put the clutch in to change gear ??? Many thanks if anyone can help me out!!
  20. Mate have a look at this, might just be the ticket for ya! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Subaru/Accessories/auction-368448512.htm
  21. Yeah the platnums are meant to last 40,00km's longer than the Irridiums according to NGK's website. I also got told buy the guy at BNT (bearing in mind he's no trained mechanic) that the Irridiums aren't insulated to the extent they need to be so send a wasted current back - or something to that effect that can dick around with things, but have never heard that from anyone else. And I thought the plugs you brought now days were pre-gapped and ready to go?? I've put probably 15 sets of plugs in cars for mates ect over the last couple of years and never gapped one
  22. Hi guys, hey i was just having a wee think the other day and wondered if there's any gains to be had by running the NGK Irridium plugs as opposed to the factory recommended Platnum jobbies as from what I can gather the Irridiums are meant to be a slightly better performing plug - but don't quote me on that. When I first got my GTB I put new plugs put in which were the recommended Platnum ones, the ones that came out were Irridium's, before the plug change the second turbo would'nt come on in 1st gear - coincidence ??? Any thoughts/experiences on the matter would be good
  23. Hello guys, Hey just wondering if a front "cusco underbody brace" or "K brace" I think they might be called, from a GC8 Impreza fit onto my BG Wagon? Cheers!! It like this one............. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Subaru/Suspension/auction-365882584.htm
