  1. Sure you don't want an immaculate v10? http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php?topic=2402.0 ;)

Haven't driven an 8 or 9, but i'm told 9's are pretty similar to the 10's... fuel economy-wise i can get practically 10L/100km with a combination of driving style (open road, around town, air-con on, and a 5 minute blast on a windy backroad). It's often close to that economy wise but usually slightly "worse".

I've heard the later models (8/9/10) are very reliable, and have certainly not had any problems with mine although it's very low km's still. If you treat it nice and get regular services you shouldn't have much trouble.

I would estimate aiming for $25k-$30 price range, obviously the 8 in the bottom of the range and 9 towards the top.

  2. My logic says it'll be great if they bring out an ugly Legacy.. means i can then get the current model which looks great for a lot cheaper, and not feel bummed out that i don't have the latest model!

Exactly the same with my current Version 10, got it for half the price of the 11 and don't have any inkling whatsoever of wanting to "upgrade"

Come on newsuba, everyone knows that french build quality is RUBBISH.

    And smelly and hairy.

Indeed. You can get a used E46 M3 for less than that.

I like your choice in cars.

    ;)

How much are these going for nowadays, i tried trademe just now but got blocked.

Quick search brought up 3 for between $55k - $60k

Last year it was 160 something kilowatts, this year it is 195. Don't take my word for it ...

    http://www.subaru.co.nz/New_Vehicles/Impreza/WRX/specifications.php

That may be the case, but unfortunately just because that's what it says on paper, doesn't mean that they're then on par with each other in the real world. Completely different cars, and i personally would never bother forking out for the WRX, i was completely uninspired by it

  5. Test drove the new shape WRX when looking at buying a new car last year... didn't like it one bit. Felt like i was driving a rental car (i.e. nice clean interior with no exciting features and no real get-up and go). It may have the same "output" on paper as the v10 STI (although i'm only taking GC8E2DD's word for it), but i've driven both and can tell you they feel nothing like one another! Not even close!

Obviously best idea is to see what you think after the test drive...

nope never again but we will have Macca's VERY soon! they have started construction.....

Huh? Did they get rid of it recently? I was there within the last two months and definitely put 98 in my car

  7. Make : Subaru

    Model : 2005 Impreza STI

Name of Dyno : Torque Performance Dynamometer

    Date of run : 27/09/08

Standard apart from HKS EVC 5... i'm sure it should actually be able to do more. Apologies for quality of pic, don't have a scanner

There is wealth to your situation..You need to think outside the box.. here my man, visualization is needed... think MULA and how to get it.

I see what you're getting at, however that was previously my situation, not current anymore. Opportunity lost

  9. Name: Brendan

    Age: 26

    Location: Tauranga

    Occupation: Doctor

    Subaru's: 1995 Legacy GT, 2005 STI "Version 10"

    Length Of Subaru Ownership: ?4years

Interesting Fact: Being in a relationship with a "bi" girl is not as cool as it sounds... ;) Quit my job recently and am renting myself out to the highest bidder cos i'm all about the mulah

  10. I'm thinking that might be an old model considering they were inserting an older style iPod in it.. fine if that's what you've got but might be worth checking for a newer version?

  11. Car 2005 Impreza STI

Mods HKS EVC 5, Spec C springs, 18" Work Emotion CR-Kai wheels

Thinks you like How it looks, how it drives, the fact that it's a beast even though it's practically standard

What you dislike How quickly the white gets dirty, the plasticky dash

Why you bought it Always wanted an STI but hate the new shape, split up with my ex so spent a stupid amount on a car since i could get away with it now ;)

What your future plans are Probably moving to Oz so have to decide if i store it or sell it... only thing i've considered doing to it is exhaust, but love that it's standard so won't be doing much more than that if anything

Or perving at firemen fighting fires in Melbourne...

Sounds like a nice car you've got Drewpy, can't be that common?

  13. Actually i don't think you need the remote/key fob/thing because i could program the locks in my old legacy without ever having one. Just had to have the key in the ignition turned to a certain position... can't remember off the top of my head where but most likely "on" i suppose.

Of course it's entirely possible you need it for some years and not for others
