  1. Na, power is the same, although 1st gear has always been weird, can hardly notice that the car is turbo in 1st, all other gears seem to pull sweet, i havnt really cared as i rarely boost in 1st gear, there seems to be a slight miss when idling but hardly noticeable unless you listen really carefully and also idle fluctuation is terrible (over 1000 rpm difference sometimes) its not a consistent fluctuation just random, mainly when cold. Also car almost stalls every time i take my foot off the accelerator but correct themselves after a second. i just assumed that its the cheap bov that the last owner put on. Also car has frontmount, not sure if that changes anything
  2. thanks but that was the first thing i checked, ive seen and heard of a few people doing that including workshops
  3. Thanks for your help, I researched alot on how to burp it and i filled it that way originally, i squeezed top hose often too, with heater on full, i got to the stage where no more bubbles were coming out so i quickly put radiator cap on then let id idle, seemed allgood for 5 or so minutes then it happened again. i noticed that when i revved the engine it wanted more water but as soon as it went back to idle it pushed it all back up. Do you think maybe i need to burp it while its dead cold then turn the car off just before it starts to warm up then wait a few hours and repeat? just to make sure air is 100% gone. or is that pointless?
  4. Hi guys, having trouble with my WRX, First off my radiator had a crack in the side, so i replaced it, went for a 5 minute drive, allgood so far. Turned car off then about 20 seconds later water started gushing out the overflow bottle, lost about 90% of the water in it. So i thought i burped it wrong, so i reburped it, was going allgood then water level rose alot and quite fast inside the funnel and then started boiling everywhere again (out the turbo resovior tank as cap was off) I was thinking it had blown a Head Gasket, so i checked all the common symptoms, no milky oil, no oily water, no white smoke out the exhaust, there was a tiny bit of water but i assume that its condensation as i tested it in the morning, no bubbles coming out of radiator when cold. so i thought id do a compression test, i couldnt do it while engine was hot as one of my coil packs broke on removal to check for coolant on plugs, so it can only run on 3 cylingers till new coil pack arrives, so i did a compression test, 3 times on each cylinder and readings came back at 157, 153, 160, 151. this is a cold reading as i cant get a warm one at the moment Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, thanks in advance
  5. Thanks heaps guys for your advice, ill replace the solenoid and let you know how it goes. What car is the 3 port solenoid made for?
  6. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Yellow lines are where the lines go to as its a little confusing with hundreds of black lines
  7. Hi guys, I have recently brought a twin turbo legacy that has been converted to single. Its a BD5, still has twin turbo block but everything else is off a v3/4 wrx. Runs smooth, no check lights. Only problem is that when the boost comes on, boost gauge reads 16psi (but doesn't feel like that much), then drops back off to about 8.5 psi. ECU is a V3/V4 WRX, grey injectors and a blue AFM. Everything is apperently standard so shouldnt be boosting 16psi?? I am thinking maybe it has something to do with the way the boost solenoid/lines have been plumbed. It is a 3 port boost solenoid, top line is connected to the turbo, middle line to the actuator and bottom line to intake. I have looked for hours and havnt been able to find a half decent picture. Some forums have mentioned 'restrictor pills' in the boost lines, mine have nothing in the lines just straight 4mm vacuum hose. Ill post a picture up, any help would be much appreciated
  8. so theyre a bit different but will fit? I did read somewhere that the wagons are stiffer. Is that the only difference? will superlow kings from the wagon physically fit in my sedan without problems?
  9. Hey guys wanting to buy some lowering springs for my 1994 RS legacy, just wondering if the wagon ones of the same generation are the same???? as thats all thats on trademe. Or better does anybody have any they want to sell???
  10. thanks john. will replace the sensor and let you know how it goes, thanks heaps
  11. Hey guys, I've taken my car to a few different mechanics and none of them have been right with my subys problems. 1st turbo does not feel as though its really pulling as hard as it should. I have put a boost gauge in on one of the vacuum hoses up the front near the cambelt and is reading 8-10 psi for 1st turbo and about 12psi for the 2nd, replaced the boost solenoid box, all vacuum lines have been checked over. Here are the issues i have it would be great if somebody could answer any of these: -1st turbo not pulling very hard, 2nd feels ok but have nothing to compare it to -if i take my car over 3800 rpm then change gear my first turbo wont get spooling in that next gear even though im only doin just over 3000 rpm -when idling sometimes sounds like its missing every now and again Im not a complete noob and know about the VOD but am new to subarus, any help will be much appreciated, thanks guys
  12. Hey guys, im wanting to put an STI engine into my 94 RS legacy, no wreckers in palmy have any STIs <---- haha. Does anybody have any parts and guidelines of what i will need to completely do the conversion, thanks heaps
  13. Thanks heaps man, so can i get the rack from a V1-V6 STI? also do the STIs have a 2.75 turns to full lock for the steering, cheers
