  1. Found the problem. The output hose for the heater core feeds into a metal line which T joins with one piece going up into the manifold and one piece continues under the manifold so I am off to Strongs to grab another piece. Will take photos etc. of how to do it for everyone who, like me, have absolutely no clue.

  2. So after a night out driving with friends. I parked the car at home and thought I could hear a faint hissing noise as I walked inside. So I opened my hood to inspect further and low and behold there was a very slight puddle on top of the passenger side bank. The hissing noise subsided and then the occasional bubbling noise of air/water coming in or out of a hose.

All night my heater has been fine (occasionally flicked it on to defog the windows aside from the last 30 minutes or so of driving) so I know that the heater core hasn't been blocked up. When I squeeze the heater core or top radiator hoses the noise also stops. I cant find the source of my water leak though. It sounds as though it is directly underneath the intake manifold but I cant be sure and I thought there were no water hoses under the mani. It doesn't appear to be the IACV hose (the clamp has fallen off this in the past, and the puddle was on the otherside of the motor). So basically I am wondering what hose it could be that I am missing that is my culprit. The last thing I want is another hg issue so the car is not being driven till I find the problem, but I am relatively sure I have seen no fluxuation in the temperature gauge.

Come on guys. What stupid little hose has split or had a clamp come off?

  3. Regulator, piece of piss. The problem with the oil would have been the rocker covers leaking oil onto the manifold, all Subarus do this pretty much. Listen for bubbling noises through the dash when decelerating that will mean air in the cooling and after getting the HG done it shouldn't do that because they will do a vacuum bleed. Also if you have the red carpet in there, I will give you my first born child for the front passenger one.

HOWEVER - if you really want to put your car at 40mm off the ground there are plenty of ways to do it legally, but you have to remember the average cop doesn't know squat about vehicle regulations, as far as he's concerned you're another bulls***ting boyracer on cutties and he will just pink sticker your car and send you on your way.

It goes both ways, the VR had adjusties with cuts and heat compressed with a gas torch and then wound as low as it would go and that took cats eyes out of the ground sort of low and I got pulled up and the cop just laughed and let me go (this was a few years ago, I wouldn't do this EVER again). And then the GT-Four gets pulled for being certed for adjusties at 120mm because the cop said it was bouncing around like its on cutties (adjusties wound veeery hard) and didn't believe that it had adjusties and slapped a pink on.

DId yyou know cops can give you a ticket for having a HUGE gear knob like that.

Their argument is that it can impale someone in an accident. People in my car always wear seatbelts, otherwise I won't let them in the car. Also, I have airbags, and you can argue that people can be impaled on any shift knob. There is no law against it, it is discretionary and if a cop has an issue with it I will explain the same thing or put my factory one back on which is in the glove compartment.
