  1. Hi Yes - it's like this: It's square, has 13 pins, and is 10mm x 10mm. The pins are arranged like this: (plug was oriented with arrow at top for this diagram) o---o oooo oooo oo-o The pins pretty much form an 'H' shape - although the extra pin on the bottom row kind of spoils it for being a perfect 'H' shape. Matt
  2. Cool - well if you get it done and don't mind me having a crack with it, let me know. I might be out in Howick on Tuesday morning so if all goes well, maybe I could swing by and grab it then. Cheers, Matt
  3. It has always given trouble with copied cds - although seems very random with it - which almost makes it more frustrating! I'm in Sandringham - very close to Eden Park. Matt

    Which CDs??

Hi I'm having real problems getting my McIntosh HU to play burnt CDs. I've tried two different types of CD-R (both Verbatim, which I think is a good brand) and it's really random as to whether it plays them or not. It either just starts playing them - or displays "disc error" or sometimes even "focus error" part way through playing. I've even tried burning on two different computers (one an iMac, the other a PC) and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Is there something I'm missing here?? Like, do HUs generally only like CD+Rs or something? Or is my HU just poked.... Matt
  5. Hi Smurff - If you're throwing it out , I'll give it a go if you don't mind! If it works but the sound is crappy, I can always get a new one. How can I get it from you - where are you based? Keltik - my HU is a PF- 40251-A - has the MD/CD/Radio. Same as yours? The radio reception on the new one is poor and the CD player doesn't seem to like CD-Rs - have tried two different types (both reputable brand : Verbatim). Any advice on this? The woman at Driving Sound took one look at the cable and said I'd have mega-trouble finding one - if that CeNet cable is what I need, she was either lying to me, or doesn't know her stuff! Matt
  6. Oh damn!!! :-[ Do you think it would still work if joined? Or is that going to play with the audio quality? Matt
  7. Hi Have just bought a replacement set of McIntosh components (amp, HU, CD stacker) as my HU was poked. I don't need the amp, however would quite like to hook the stacker up to the HU. However, the stacker came with the unplugable cable clipped...so I need to get hold of a new stacker-HU cable. I have no idea what it's called - perhaps a photo would be a good idea? It's square, has 13 pins, and is 10mm x 10mm. The pins are arranged like this: (plug was oriented with arrow at top for this diagram) o---o oooo oooo oo-o The components came from a 2000 Legacy, and are going into a 2000 Legacy. The HU is already in and works fine - and you can see the equivalent female port on the back of the HU, ready to accept the cable from the stacker...if only I had the cable. So that's my question - anyone know where to get that cable from?? Matt
  8. Hi I have a 2000 Legacy GT-B E-Tune. Some time ago, I drove a short distance (like 2km) with the handbrake partially on (doh!). About the same time, the red indicator light in the dash that illuminates when the handbrake is on, has not been seen since. A while later, the green indicator light in the dash that illuminates when the headlights are on, started refusing to illuminate - and hasn't been seen since. Any one have any idea what is behind this and how to fix it? Any advice much appreciated! Matt
  9. Hi Am a complete newbie with car audio however am fairly practical, so think I can manage my project..with a little advice first! I have a 2000 Legacy GT-B E-Tune which has the McIntosh HU and underseat amp. The HU is refuses to play CDs 95% of the time, and I can only get 2 static free radio stations even with a band expander. So I bought a complete set from an identical car - it consists of (all McIntosh components) : HU, amp and CD stacker. Have done lots of searching on the web for advice on how to remove the trim and then HU, so I think I have that part sussed. What I would like help with is : (i) where do I mount the stacker? (surely in the boot - if cable is long enough) (ii) does the cd stacker plug into the amp or the HU? (iii) any extra advice on removing the trim/old HU would be helpful too. Any help greatly appreciated! Matt
