hi just bought a car from a workshop which i believe is a a genuine 1996 GTB manual, they have fitted another engine into it from a pre 96 gt wagon (EJ20H) then realised that the loom was different! so a year later its still stitting there and now i own it
now question is can I reuse the loom from the orignal GTB EJ20R engine or should i just use the complete manifold and bolt it on to the EJ20H block.
cheers

Afternoon Everyone, new website launched today
www.wheedle.co.nz (nz owned/operated)
personally I hate Trademe with their high listing fees, monoply etc, and the owner of this website (owner of Mainfreight NZ) wants to undercut Trademe.
Im fully backing this website cause the owners of Trademe thinks this site will fail, and It seems to me they are running scared.
come on people lets show our support and stop being ripped off By trademe.

hi im doing a flipped v4sti eng conversion into a v2 sti ra, and its nearly done but im having trouble with the powersteering pipes ( my top feed injectors and rails are in the way and the intercooler piping..) any way ive now found out that the v1-2 power steering pipe that goes to the pump is straight, and v3 onwards has a kink allows for the intake pipe to be run on top.
my Question is has anyone swapped the pipe with a hose? i want to cut the pipe where the turbo is located, run a suitable hose then reconnect it with pipe into the pump.
thanks
-
youve done it before? you got a pic lol dont want to trim too much haha thanks

hi can some one tell me what other subaru models use the top feed injector plug?? as v7 looms are a bit too expensive as all i require is the plug, im doing a top feed conversion on my EJ20k
thanks

now ive been reading up on a few posts about this subject on this site, and got my head around what i need to do however all the write ups i have found were setups with link ecus where as i have a zerosport ecu 4 plug ( same as a standard v2 sti ra just limiters removed and different map, still runs air flow meter) my question is do i do the same as if i had a link and do not use the brown wire or do i have to wire the brown wire remotely somewhere else thanks

the rails are already set parrallel, so this a new setup. came with the new engine which im about to instal.
Set it to 43.5psi WOT that is with the vacuum on manifold plugged and off on the reg end.
so connect it all up expect the outlet?
-
btw car is a v3 sti ra thanks
-
Hi all has anyone or is their a write up on how to install a sard fuel pressure reg?
im running parrallel lines.
thanks

last engine died from fuel starvation

at the moment its got a Zerosports ECU in it , came from japan with it . and has a agrresive tune. but its untunable here in nz, also im running v7 sti ignition so 4 ignitors (coil on plug ) instead of one ignitor (std v2 sti ra) im gonna continue to use the zero sports ecu so i wont be able to use the engines full potenital but it should still work a treat. ill proberly end up using the my current igintion setup.

great thanks for your help, im unsure about the fully flipped manifold but this is what i bought
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=451785710
and hoping that i dont have to fully modify that much to make it fit into my STI RA v2 (wishful thinking)
-
did you have to modify the loom?
-
Hi just bought a v3 sti eng for my sti ra v2. the V3 eng currently has a twisted turbo setup stock injectors (440)
bascially want to know if i can run the v3 sti manifold that comes with it as it has parallel fuel setup an is currently already flipped. i know the engine will bolt up no worries just want to know about wiring, sensors etc
thanks

my block is going to be at no charge as my mate owes me a favour or 2..... an fortunately he owns an runs a motorcycle engine engineering shop
and going to apply his own custom work to my block.
-
3.0 sounds tempting..... i see theres one on trademe for 8k is it really worth it?
-
very true im up to 4k and just have the engine, then i need all custom stuff which is like another 5
for me i given myself six months i aint rich and dont want to "tick/get a loan" so i have to do this the old way SAVE lol
if it aint done by then well at least the bottom end will be done!
-
thanks ej257 no thanks the 2.5 in my mind aint as feisty as the 2.0 an it still will have factory internals its not going to handle 400hp.
my block is already done. an ive got 3k just for the parts. priced up 2.2 stroker kit from redline quoted $1193.00 inc new dumb GST increase
-
okay i have a genuine Sti Ra V2 thats done 160kms... boosts standard 16psi eng fairly stock, V7 sti ign coils(3 plug), 3 inch exhaust, and apexi air filter kit.
its time for a upgrade....this is my 14th subaru and i'm over the "usual" dumb bolt on go fast bits. time to build something that actually has scare factor! lol over the past week been getting alot of advice from people saying do this, do that.... sort of got me confused! now i know my way around a Subaru engine (had to many to know they are s***, an blown way to many!!) and have pretty much have all workshop facilities in my garage (what Subaru owner doesn't have tools for their hand grenade) an have come up with this....
aim 400hp ETA 6 months starting from.....now!
now i realize that 400hp is alot of power but what i'm planning is building a bottom end that can handle around 500hp
fully closed deck block (dwelled and sleeved)
billet 2.2 stroker kit
race bearings to suit
scat H beam rods
100thou oversized forged pistons
arp bolts rod/eng kit
so far i come up with this.... any ideas would be great an would be a big help thanks in advance
this is just my bottom end build.. still got heads, ecu, fuel, and intake to go... hahaha dumb subarus money pitts!
