  1. hmm i heard the same ticking sound in a mates legacy gt motor about 3-4 days later he blew his bottom end. whats piston slap? is it fixable?
  2. im wondering if i can reuse my block??? and just put new heads on. it was pretty badly overheated i knw the block can warp? but can get it plained?
  3. hi dont really know much anout PnP i have seen do it yourself clips on youtube.... rather not play with it myself so would like to know where abouts to go in dunedin??
  4. also was wondering probably a silly question with the v2 heads can i modify them slightly example bore them out? and what can i expect to pay have it done.?
  5. ohh saweet makes my life easier haha cool thanks guys
  6. hi just wondering if v2 heads will fit my single turbo setup in my bg5a legacy?? without modifying anything? 1994 GT legacy wagon.
  7. yeah think ill passs and stick to a cheaper front mount thanks guys lotsa help
  8. hi has anyone done a v mount on a ej20?? was thinking of just going front mount but have heard that v mounted is better? no sure on this as a mate was telling me about it.
  9. ohhhhh i get what you mean ive seen some pics online i think ill just take upipe in and explain what i want done mayb take in some pictures to help. i doesnt look like i have very much room to sit it just below the turbo. i do have a pre exsisting flange on my turbo upipe where the extractors meet but its a crappy place had problems with it there.
  10. you wouldnt happen to know where to find some??? ive seen some RPM ones but are unsure on the quality. thanks for the info
  11. hi i cant seem to find the thread here in the forums on best placement of where to sit your external wastegate. was also looking at doing a twisted turbo set up. what kind of information would i need to take into a engineeer to get it done. also with a twisted turbo setup can u still use a top mount i was thinking you could probably get a silicone joiner and extend it around. Till i swap to front mount of course. cheers
  12. motor came out of a 96 GTB limited wagon with the ej20r loom im sure theyre the bg5b motors? had a really loud ticking and quite fast pased sound on idle and would slowly get quiter after warming the engine up.
  13. lol thanks ill keep that in mind i would like to build something quite 'beefy' seeing as i have another spare motor id like to do up as another project slowly.
  14. this is probably a stupid question but can u get adjustable cam gears for a EJ20t motors and are they worth buying was thinking of doing this on another motor along with some other mods.
  15. headgaskets deff goneburger. id be betting the heads are also f***ed . either look for a new engine or heads. always double check fluids after a run around the block or get up to temp and go over it i can get another BG5a motor in good condition or the BG5b motor out of the GTB with a noisy lifter. is it hard to fix a lifter i wud prefer the bg5b motor as it should be able to handle more?? it had yellow injectors ornage afm etc.
  16. i also get a hot water bubbling sound and it spits the water out the radiator overflow. so im sure the heads are stuffed while driving sometimes get large poping sound and power bogs down engine dies unless u give it alota revs in lower gear to start engine. idles really badly and takes abit to start up from cold or warm
  17. well the gtb motor had a noisy ticking sound motor ran fine and it quitens when it warms up. its is a bg5b or c motor with yellow injectors orange afm.
  18. it still overheats slightly hard to start no heating coming out of heater just cold air. thats what happens when u work on ur car in the pouring rain in the dark was freaking soaked and wanted to get outa the rain.... just wanna know whats the eaiser fix sticky lifter? or replace heads and gaskets on previous motor?
  19. ok when i replaced my black under manifold black intake plastic pipe i forget to hoook up a couple of pipes one to my IAVC and one on the alloy header tank. drove around for a day before realising that it overheated and that there was no water in the car at all... im sure iv either cracked or blown the heads. I have another spare engine i can put in from a GTB legacy wagon it has a very loud sticky lifter. would it be easier to pull engine out and fix the blown/cracked head or fix the sticky lifter on the GTB motor and drop it in and convert block to single turbo????
  20. um i am single turb ive currently got a line going from turbo and wastegate to side nipple on boost tap and the bottom port to the boost solenoid.
  21. hi does anyone know how to install the boost taps with the two ports on it one on bottom and on on side. running internal gate and twinturbo solenoids.
  22. haha all ready done :'( waiting for my internal wastegate actuator..
  23. well it never used to idle weird till i started having external wastegate issues. and boost cutting
  24. correct this is the last check code out of 3 haha
  25. just double checked code its 31 not 41... sorry something to do with TPS
