  1. Yeah will do! Most likely Sunday as I am working most of the day tomorrow and need to give it some TLC as previous owner has left it nice and dirty for me to clean haha... A few things inside are broken like the arm rest compartment hatch (the bit that holds it down) but easy fix if I can get the parts from pick a part or something... any ideas where to get from? Need to properly screw in the center console around the radio etc. Will post pics ASAP. Where can I get a smallish clubsub sticker? ;D
  2. LOL do I need to say I'm a ClubSub Member?
  3. Just got the car from the truck at 6pm... It is so nice I'm so happy with my purchase! Will try and book cambelt for Monday. Any other things you guys suggest I can get them to do while they are at it? BTW - where can I get a ClubSub Sticker? (only small)
  4. Thats the strange thing, we're not!! Its busier than ever at the mo!! You work at Winger then? Can you get me the quote?
  5. Yeah definately... Will get that done Monday.
  6. Lol yeah I will hold them to their quote most definately
  7. Yeah just saw a picture and realised that the AVS is all black... MY BAD!
  8. yeah i can get avs for $520 and they come to my house... sounds pretty good to me (NZSA accredited as mentioned before)
  9. Well the lady I spoke to seemed very sure that it would only be $1k... I asked about all the seals waterpump idlers tensioners etc and "yep we do all of that when it is changed" I said "So it's a static 1k for everything" - "yep" So I will go and see on Monday if she is just bulls**ting or that is actually a deal they provide...
  10. Ok so no mongoose then. AVS are a bit more expensive than the dynatron but I have found a place that will sell completely installed for $520. (NZSA Accredited) I talked to someone else and they said they can install the Dynatron for me for $450 - 500 depending on the model and said that the dynatron's are harder to hot wire as all the wires are black??? Ideas?
  11. I re-rang Winger Subaru and they replace all mentioned parts for $1000. Sounds pretty good to me... having it done by Subaru themselves! ;D
  12. Would love to support NZ made but the Dynatron and Mongoose's are cheaper!!! :-\
  13. So what needs to be replaced then? Cambelt, Tensioners, Idlers, waterpump... what seals?
  14. Haha that was lucky! So who in Auckland can provide a good priced quote for cambelt, water pump, tensioners etc? I have had a few but trying to get the best price I can
  15. I really like the AVS inbuilt turbo timer which I think is such a good idea! Does the installer have to be NZSA accredited for insurance reasons? Cheers Chris
  16. Hi All, I have just bought a new 1998 Legacy GTB BH and it has done 168,000kms. Since it is a recent import (2 yrs) the guy I bought it off is unsure if the cambelt has been done. I was ringing around getting quotes and Winger Subaru said that if it has done 168,000kms and it hasnt blown up then the cambelt has to have been done... I can believe this somewhat but what should I do to find out if it has? The car is coming up from Hastings tomorrow on a transporter but when I was talking to the seller he had a look for stickers etc but was unable to find anything. Should I get someone to take it slightly apart and check the condition of the belt? Winger also quoted to do the cambelt for me for $1000 and a 2 year warranty which is pretty good I imagine? All help greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris
  17. Hi Guys, I have just bought a new Legacy GTB 1998 and for my insurance to valid I need a 5 star alarm. I believe that they need to be installed by NZSA approved installers? I looked at AVS S5's and think they look really good but when I rang Winger Subaru to get a quote for cambelt, they said that they install Dynatron's in all new Subarus. What I want to know is what you guys have in your precious subbies to keep thieves away! Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris
  18. Yeah that is another deciding factor for me. I do like leather but I do agree half-leather would be a much better option. As far as E-tune's go probably quite a bit out of my price range unfortunately. Cheers
  19. yeah they do and lower k's... maybe i will up the budget
  20. The BH has had 2 owners since being imported into NZ in 2008. It was in Japan before then. Here is the listing: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=226106260 I have been offered it considerably cheaper Anyone in hastings want to go and have a look for me? Quite a way from Auckland for just a weekend
  21. ok so if I am still undecided maybe it will be better to save up some more and get a lower k's BH? At first I didn't know why I liked the BH over the BG but then realised they look subtly different.
  22. OK thanks for all of the advice so far... what is BeB? As I may have already said I have a mate that can do the cambelt (on #1) if I want. What else is likely to go wrong at high k's? After doing a bit of wikipedia'ing I have come to believe that this is a Third Generation legacy (#1) BH - you can tell by the way it looks compared to the 2nd gen. I was reading that the 3rd gen fixed problems that the 2nd gen had with head gaskets etc? Cheers Chris
  23. No but I want nice as well as reliable. I must sound like the ultimate noob and sorry for that. Maybe I will just keep waiting... ???
  24. ok so my mood is swinging again.. how bad of an idea is it to get #1? I have a mate that is a Subaru guy and can do the cambelt for me but what else could go wrong?
