Gee man sounds like you have a Bed made out of holset turbo chargers lol! (greedy bugger)haha

Loner i didn't think they have water cooled bearing housing, i've never seen one, Not saying they don't just wanting to confirm if they do as i always believe they where not?

I plan on running one hx40 but can't comment on performance as i've never run one, but If they are good enough for Jas to start a collection of them then they must be good aye!

Just make sure you use genuine Holset cores gutts and hot side.

Also there are different size compressor wheels and flavours to be had so upgrading them is quite easy task.

Is your hx35 have a internal wastegate housing? hx35w?

yep hx35w brought off trademe, will send it in to a rebuilder to get it serviced

Appreciate all the info I will be keeping the twin scroll and twisting to fit the engine bay, did want to run a 38mm turbo smart external gate but it is an HX35w

the vision of seeing it in the legacy engine bay, something similar to this

so it goes over the clear coat (just a nice clean surface right?)

    - as in no need to sand clear off like u do for regular paint?

    (specifically for painting wheels)

will clear need to be sprayed on top of plastidip?

    - if so - regular clear or special plastidip clear?

If you want a gloss finish you spray the glossifier or you can just use the matt finish the glossifier looks nice on matt finish

  4. 98% ive finish putting the 6 speed into 96 GTB Full brembo set up, I just dont have the front ABS sensors hooked up. The front GTB ABS sensor pokes out some 5-8mm from the housing unit where as the v7 sti sensor were flush withing the housing (picture)

    sensorv7stibelow96gtbab.jpg

Funky is probably right when saying to use the GTB hubs, I didnt go this way budget for it didnt stretch that far, as I feared machining disks etc etc lol... So plans to fabricate some sleeves to compensate for the gaps, which seem easy enough, will allow me to bolt the sensors in place. At the moment I have the ABS light on, no biggie

overall best mod I have ever done OH MY!!!!! 6 speed in a 96 GTB wagon is unbelievable drive, I just cant express how it feels you just need to do it to find out.. Next is single conversion.. after doing my partner BH5 TT to ST conversion.. if your thinking of doing 6 speed conversion, my advice is to get everything and just DO IT you will not regret it.

leave your gtb hubs on the car? oh wait.. depends what hubs you have. Some gtb is that era had smaller rotors.

However.. test fit the brembo rotor caliper on your gtb and it should bolt up. Thus you reuse your ABS rings and sensors of the GTB.

Else - you should use the GTB ABS stuff anyways. - the GDA/B hubs should accept your GTB ABS sensors fine.

I have the complete v7 sti hub with brembo\'s attached, these came with the 6 speed, I didn\'t think the brembo (fronts) would fit the GTB rotors (even though i have Subaru 4 pots and znoelli slotted rotor still thought the bolt pattern was different) why change it you might ask it was just to be constant throughout.. brembo all the way around

besides that need a way to get these working without the abs check light coming on and keeping it all legal :P so to speak

From what I've read the 6 speed bolts up but the centre dif control doesn't plug into anything so will run constant 50 50

Should be fine apart from that

will that be a problem, can anyone share some insight on this, whether i can mod it to work, if its needed. any info and links will be appreciated.

Doubt rims will clear bro, and there have been a few people that have done this in the bg wagons

I do have some v7 Rims just hoped to use the other model .. but thanks

  7. I have a few projects going on, for my partners BH5 we are dropping a STi ver 5 into it, will do the manual side of things first and shall pick a few more brains here over ecu things as Im not converting the stock BH5 to ST so wont use the non sti ecu...

2nd project before I do a conversion on BG5B Legacy wagon was to install a 6 speed (my clutch is due anyway) wondering if anyone may of done this before or if anyone foresee's and problems,

Parts wise I have everything but the auto drive shaft

I will use the brembos, rear diff, 6speed slave cylinder, 6speed clutch, 6speed fly wheel, 6speed starter etc

One question is about the brembo calipers and Subaru 4pots are they the same offset... as I have CSA rims that clear my 4 pots on the GTB, i am hoping to reuse them on the brembo, just not 100% sure Thanks

  8. I have 1999 BH5A legacy with 40 ecu

    00000206.jpg

plan is to drop a v5 STi engine and gearbox into the BH5A,

    00000202.jpg

I dont have the loom from the V5 STi but thought I could just re-route the the current loom to match the STi v5 ecu..

just wondering if this is correct and if any has V5 STI Ecu pinouts

    Thanks

  9. I brought a GTB that has gone through the TT to ST, it has a version 5 STi wrx engine and 5 speed gearbox ecu is Apexi PowerFC + hand controller, it has aftermarket equal length headers so has the farty sound no the Subaru rumble, also has a 38mm external gate off the header near the front tyre also has a FMIC with WRX front and rear seat.

The car is in serious need of some work cant list everything, but the most noticeable. I will be pulling off the aftermarket equal length headers and external, restoring that Subaru rumble will look into installing the external gate on the up pipe or run a standard TD05 (16g) with internal gate.. a lot of of tiding up to do for WOF /COF

wondering if anyone can recommend a tuner for the Apexi POWERFC around Auckland

    thanks in advance

  10. I imported a damaged (GDBA4EH) for the sole idea of putting both the engine and 6speed it into my 96 GTB, its not going to a track, maybe a few runs at champion dragway, but who knows. I was going to use a V3 Sti as a compatible thing but price and components, per bang for buck, i got a mean deal on the v7 STi (for parts only) car will be released next week I'm told.

ECU I may go after market to link G4, Im sure a plugin will still work as my GTB is BG5B spec but open to advice there from anyone..

I did a quick search on 6 speed into a GT/GTB and saw this http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,21997.15.html which wasn't very helpful was curious if the drive shaft would be long enough or to long?

The question I get asked is WHY? that simple is because I can ;) beside it will be a great upgrade for it.

    promise pictures to come. :)

    :P

  11. found that the garage never reinstalled the top mount properly the plastic parts to the inter-cooler and turbos were not sitting in there properly, found bolts missing to the turbo bracket and the straps securing on the throttle body and IC / turbos were loose.

plans to take it to Highbrook auto on Monday, have them re-check it.

    ------------

  12. I pulled the bov apart and gave it a clean .. I seem to think they the garage hooked up the bbod lines wrong because it never did this before I took it to them, I will get the guys at highbrook auto, take a look at it, so will snail trail it there on Monday.. was going to check the BBOD lines see if there some a miss
