  1. It actually the same sound as you hear when you listen to a lawn mower from a distance. Where is the best place to get a Walbro pump from (I am currently in the Hawkes Bay). Thanks for every ones help
  2. Hi there, I have a 1996 gtb that is misbehaving some what... The car starts up fine but under acceleration it doesn't seem to be getting up and going and feels like it wants to stall (almost the same as an airflow meter issue). the car hasn't been fired up in about 4 months, took it for a warrant yesterday and went fine (flew through) but today making quite a loud whirring noise from where the gas tank is which can't be a good sign. No warning lights on the dash. Should I start with the fuel pump and go from there or are there and easy checks I can do before I start handing over the wads of cash that I am sure will cost to fix this issue. Cheers. Paul
  3. Yeah, that's what I thought too but maybe people in Auckland get paid too much? I know I'm in the wrong job lol
  4. Yeah. I was hoping to save some money and cash someone up but it seems I may have to do just that.
  5. Hi there everyone. I'm back again pleading for help. Just before Xmas I stuffed my head gasket. Thankfully I caught it early enough so it never over heated. I organized with a couple of members who would do a cashy and seemed to of pulled out and left me high and dry. If anyone is keen to earn a bit of cash please pm me or leave a message here. Any help will be most appreciated. I live on the shore in Auckland but am willing to travel. I have all the parts necessary for the job, just not the tools. It's a 1996 gtb with a ej20r engine. Once again, thanks for anyone that can help
  6. I had a mechanic lined up next week to replace my head gasket and cambelt for a great cash price (homer) but has unfortunatly has pulled out... Is there anyone out there keen to take this on (cash of course) or point me in the right direction. Any help will me most appreciated. It is a 1996 gtb (ayp291) Cheers. Paul
  7. Why would it be a stuffed engine? It idles fine, and runs really well on the secondary turbo... Its just the primary where I seem to have problems.
  8. It had overheated about a week age with a stuffed thermostat but I have removed it now.
  9. I have a 1996 legacy ej20r, coming home today the car completely lost power... slowly gained and then took off like a rocket ship when the secondary torbo kicked in. Pulled up and I could hear a bubbling (boiling) noise coming from the primary turbo or one of the pipes leading too or coming from it... Is this a stuffed turbo or an airlock or something similer?
  10. Yep... Its a manual. Itjust seems a lot to invest for a little return... If any. But I will take it on board though
  11. What would I get though if I did fix it? Not much more than 2000 surely?
  12. Its in great nick but has done 200,000 kilometers now though and it is an ej20r motor
  13. 1996 GTB with a suspected blown head gasket. Is it worth me replaceing the gasket (as well as cambelt waterpump etc) or give it the flick? I guess what I am asking is will the price of the repairs be more expencive than what the car is worth? Any help will be most appreciated.
  14. What sized nuts are they anyone??? May have to go shopping for a decent Hex socket
  15. I'm tempted to replace the primary turbo on my 1996 Subaru legacy gtb as mine is on the way out and giving it a crack myself. Any words of advice of warnings? Or is it a job for a Subaru technician? Any help would be most appreciated. Cheers. Paul
  16. If ya keen on some cash coming your way, feel free to email me... [email protected] Cheers Paul
  17. Do you do work on the weekends on Subi's?
  18. Cheers mate, that would be awesome... I had to remove my cat converter as it was rusting out and it did make it sound a bit better Where are you based?
  19. Wow... Nice work. To tell you the truth my Subi is still completely stock and i'm kind of proud to keep it that way... Makes it different from most others I recon
  20. I'm not much of an expert on turbo's to be honest but a noisy turbo sounds a bit knackered to me? But i have been wrong before. What makes it noisy and does it matter? Cheers Paul
  21. Thanks heaps for your help... All I need now is someone who is willing to put it for some cash...
