What have you checked so far? Any ideas at all?

Fuel pump - sensor problem - spark problem - muffler bearing

He clipped the exhaust so definitely a muffler bearing, there always going on the lowered cars....

Joking aside my guess is either an O2 sensor or MAF deciding its had enough, but could be just about anything tbh need more details.

No 100k service yet going to wait til about 95k to do that. Keen to do that upper engine clean though which vacuum hose do I put it in through in these things?

Not sure about the leaks... Tried the whole carb cleaner spray test but nothing showed up though but some of the hoses are quite hard to get into though.

Only ever run 98 in it too.

Think the plugs sound like the go... Will start there and see how she goes!

Any vacuum hose will do, just follow instructions on the can. Plugs are a good start, harder to do than a normal 4cyl but still only spark plugs, make sure you gap them correctly too.

  3. Yep, reception down here is shite, I brought a $20 (got it on special for $10) warehouse booster aerial which has definitely helped with reception and thats just shoved behind the headunit. So i think its a combination of Subaru\'s average aerials and wellingtons hills.

Spotted those (new?) touch sensitive multi colour gfb units the other day, look like a cool piece of equipment

Thats the G force 2 which is the one i\'m looking at getting and the same one as kiwi_fozze i think?

Everyone seems to rave about them and they are half the price of the new HKS one so cant complain really.

  5. XR6 Turbo definitely.

Mainly for powers sake, 240kw stock but if you get it tuned apparently you can get 300kw out of them standard and up around 340kw just with injectors.

Dad had both as company cars (in wagon non-turbo form) hated the commy (less power, harsher ride and he hated the TCS/trip computer thing) however loved the falcon.

  6. He could be referring to the AIRBAG light as an SRS light (they mean the same thing) Some "SRS" lights are pictures of people being hit in the face with airbags, some say AIRBAG, some say SRS....

Rules say it should come on when ignition is turned on and stay on for 3-10secs (depending on car) then go out. As long as it does this then it should pass simple as that.

  7. Check to see if you have 12v down the exciter wire to the starter motor to start with, If not work your way back making sure you have voltage to the ignition switch to the alarm (if you have one).

Double check basics Ie: fuel lines are the right way around, injectors are plugged in properly, coil pack(s) and ignitor are plugged in correctly, plus check cam and crank angle sensors as ECU needs this info to start engine.

Took Car for warrant, car failed warrant :/

well, girlfriend took it for a warrant. Right front bush is leaking (any idea on cost/how easy these are to replace?!?)

Exhaust leaking, knew that so will get that fixed.

b]And apparently my clutch is going to go, even though it feels great?!?[/b]

    thoughts?

probably trying to make money off ya mrs. If it drives good and don\'t slip then there is no reason to replace it!

Lol were did you take for a warrant?

I dont think this bush would be Leaking would it? Just be worn out.

And if the clutch feels fine to you leave it.

VTNZ told my dad he needed a new brake bias valve once, so he went to get one from nissan and his car didn\'t even have one. Took it back to them and they went DOH and gave him the WOF haha

  9. I would (if you have access to tools) check the resistance of the leads, the quality of the spark with a spark tester, the ignitor (which triggers the coil pack) and output of cam/crank sensors. Possibly the resistance of the injectors but usually this would throw a CEL anyway (usually being the key word in that sentence).

Also seeing as your going to the effort of pulling them out change the spark plugs with fresh ones.

  10. When Armstrong Subaru do a fluch they use the exact same Wynns flush machine every other workshop would, but charge you an arm and a leg for it. Flush should be done at least every 50k.

They will only do a TCU update if:

    A) There is one available and you ask for it

    B) A Problem has been found with the TCU

    C) A service bulletin has come out saying it needs doing.

Ive only ever done one on a 2004 Outback 3ltr. It did shift nicer afterwards, but that may just have been because the old man owners driving habits had been erased....
