An update on this in case anyone has the same issue in future. Bought a 2nd hand remote off @sobanoodle (thanks again bro) and got it programmed by Beveridge Locksmiths in Wellington. Since it was a 2nd hand remote, they had to erase the memory first to allow it to be programmed to my car. I also bought a new "blade" key off Ali Express to fit the remote case which they cut to match my original one.
A couple of things to note. You will need to contact Subaru to get the immobilizer security code. They just need a couple of things to prove you're the owner.
If you buy a 2nd hand remote, make sure the numbers on the circuit board match even if the remote case looks exactly the same.
Ok, that worked fine. Plugged it into my laptop and Windows just installed the drivers no problem. Cleared Memory 2 with FreeSSM and did a relearn and rough 2nd to 3rd shift is gone
Hi all, I want to give FreeSSM a go to see if I can fix a rough shift from 2nd to 3rd in my 07 Legacy with a 5EAT. All the cables I can find on TM mention they only work with 32 bit Operating Systems e.g https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/meters-testers/auction-1422931304.htm
Anyone know of something that will work on Win 7 64 bit?
Just wondering what people use? I've got a 2007 BP5 2.0 GT EJ20X\5EAT. Not sure I want to trust Ryco stuff :\
Oil filter
ATF Filter (internal or external on my model?)
Air filter
Cabin filter
Hi all, I'm wanting to replace my Japanese GPS with a a Sony unit as per this video. Can someone point me in the direction of the harnesses for the factory wiring and steering wheel controls?
Hi all, got a 2007 JDM BP5 with only one key and wanting another one. However, I don't want to pay Subaru $920! I can't claim on insurance unfortunately as I never had a 2nd one to begin with (and my policy only covers stolen keys anyway). I was wondering if it was possible to buy a couple of transponder remotes and "clone" the existing transponder and just get keys cut to go along with them. Then I could just leave the original remote with the immobiliser RFID in the car and lock\unlock with the remotes (and have the key as a backup if battery goes flat)
I'm guessing disabling the immobiliser altogether is beyond impossible?
Had my Legacy serviced yesterday and they changed the fluid. Noticed driving home that I have to push the brake pedal down quite far now before anything happens. Does it take a while for pressure to build up or should I take it back and get them to bleed them again (if they even did it the first time) ?
Ok, thought I'd dredge this thead up
Even though I wasn't getting the check engine light coming up, I hooked up the plugs and got a 21 - Coolant Temperature Sensor. I scored a 2 pin one and then realised I needed a 3 pin...DOH! Anyway, I replaced that and flushed\new coolant. Also put new plugs and air filter in and car is running sweet. Just thought I'd update in case anyone is having similair issues.
Thanks guys I had similair issues in my Integra a while back (though not as bad as this) and it was an 02 sensor. I saw a thead on here about getting them cheap from overseas so that could be a plan
So my Legacy TS-R isn't a happy car. Idling rough, doesn't want to rev, no power (going up hills isn't fun) and the fuel consumption seems to have gone up. Total car noob so any suggestions welcome!
