Damn, I need to spend more than 5 seconds making my ghetto ramps. You guys are legit.

Hah yeah, it's so much easier than jacks. I feel a lot safer too. (earthquake city)
Yours look a lot fancier than mine.

I just fitted some cheap mufflers on my 3.0R. They were only $150 off trademe, so only done for a bit of fun.
they unfortunately hit the join between the heat shield and the body (this tiny lip).
I probably need new exhaust hangers that are a bit tougher. Anybody have a NZ source or do I need to import?
I also thought about using hose clamps around the hangers (the old tuck mod method). Will try this in the weekend also.

Have an 05 3.0R 6MT wagon also. Great cars.
I think you are right about ECO mode. Seems to limit the top ~10% of travel, then just advises you that you are not driving economically after that.
As for the hesitation. I get that for a short time after startup. My friend thought it was a major issue initially (he has the exact same car) because it can last a while. He has some tunes and it was pointless.
Have you tried resetting the ECU (unplug battery for a while) then idling for 5 minutes to relearn? Mine does it even worse after an ECU reset unless I complete that procedure.
One thing I would like on this car is some induction or exhaust noise. All you hear is the transmission.

Update: There were no problems . Compliance and WOF done very quickly. Boat arrived Sunday, picked up car Wednesday.
Standard sus bushes to be replaced, which happens to a lot of them when they get here. They'll last, but I shall replace quickly.
Loving the 3.0R. Awesome car!

That catalogue keeps reminding me I don't have leather seats or the higher end McIntosh

Cool thanks guys. Sorry I'll stop plugging this thread with my questions.
Will come back with pics after it's here and I have my shopping bags all tethered up...

Any idea what #6 does? Little switch in boot.

Not very clued up on the pre facelift 3.0r's but just thought that since the gt spec b's of that age didn't get 6 speed then the 3.0's wouldn't either. Looking at that other listing you'd think 6 speed was abailable then, strange the gt's didn't get it. That was the only reason i never even considered the older gts as i didn't want the 5 speed.
Radio is just the standard one. Most spec b ones had a mcintosh one with more speakers. Have seen a couple without though so doesn't really mean much. Easiest way is off the vin plate or look at the shocks since most people wouldn't bother changing those. Will be billstein yellow ones if its the spec b
I have never seen a manual 5sp 3.0R. Only 6 spds. I have been looking for a manual 3.0R (wagon) for about 3 months.
Wikipedia says they exist though...

If it wasn't a spec b wouldn't the stock rims have been 17" aswell. Looking at the radio you wouldn't say it was. Though it does have a 6 speed which i didnt't even know they did for pre facelifts. To many different options to say without more info. The pre facelift 18" ones always look good and seem to pop up on here quite often too.
Not sure I'll do it for $50, but nice site. Thanks.
3.0R 6spds are all spec b? I think the BBS rims look nice.
What do you think the radio is? I'm not sure what spec b grants the car by default, and what is an option on top of that. The rims are definitely aftermarket.
Edit: Looks very similar to this, but different grill and different wheels: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-805261000.htm

$$$ I imagine .
Will probably keep it standard

A compliance guy at VINZ quickly checked out the pictures and he doesn't think there will be any issues, as long as there isn'ts anything not in the pictures of course.
-
Thanks guys. It is a bit nerve-wracking as I have been waiting for about 5 months to get this, and then see these issues. 6spds are bloody hard to find.
I'll update if anything else happens (eg IBC deliberately show me these photos...)

We get far worse rust through work when we do compliance. but it still may need to be fixed. the worry is is there worst rust hidden somewhere. it look to be from north of japan. I would personally walk as i have had heaps of rusty vehicles through work that have turned to poos
Hi there. Thanks for the comments .
It's from Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, which is considered a good place to purchase from research.
I have had a few different comments so far. Some are saying it's rusted in very minor places and wouldn't even matter in compliance or day to day.
IBC take some of the deposit if I reject I think. But the other side of the coin is if it doesn't comply at all...

Hi guys,
Just made a deposit on my first Subaru. I waited a long time for a nice 6spd manual to come up for auction. I am very excited, but a little disappointed at the same time unfortunately.
Does anybody think this rust will be an issue with compliance (or an issue with the car)?
Purchased via IBC Japan. My friend viewed the second inspection sheet via a mobile, and noticed an "NZ INTERNAL" section, which I don't think we were supposed to see. We then pulled the pictures from there...
They have not mentioned these images to me yet. I will have a chat with my account manager if they request full payment without showing me them.
Other than this, the car looks great. It is a 4 rated, interior B. Rating stayed the same after re-inspection.
Really appreciate some advice!
