Cheers!

Hi guys,
Been looking around online and have found a bit of conflicting information on this. Does bp5 suspension bolt into a Bh5?
I have read that they fit if you swap the bh5 top hats onto the front?
For background I currently have cusco coilovers that use factory top hats. I am looking to buy some BP5 tein coilovers that also use factory top hats and would be swapping the fronts from my cuscos if need be. Just trying to figure out if this will work -
There was a legacy on trademe about a month ago, quite a mint one with pretty extensive mods that had been done by PBMS. I think it is based in the Franklin area. The listing has since expired and I'm looking for a way to contact the owner as I'm pretty interested in it. I have a screenshot of the listing in my lost section of trademe but that's about it. It was a 1992 Rs in silver, de spoilered and lowered on 18s. If anyone knows the guy let me know. Cheers

Do you still have the external waste gate installed? It did not have the external when I had it and as far as I know the internal is not welded or anything. The internal will be opening as well depending how its plumbed up?
-
The gearbox in it when I had it was version 3/4 sti. I have an original gearset and centre diff for it at home though. I also have some other spares for it. Pm me if your keen for anything
-
Also I believe the intake manifold is a twin turbo legacy one or potentially version 3/4 wrx.
-
THIS IS MY OLD CAR! Awesome to see something being done with it. After I sold it to a mate it was stolen and written off by a complete idiot. If you have any questions feel free to ask. The front suspension is eifel prova, originally from a legacy I think.
-
My old WRX also had that and I had no idea what it was for. Fuel system related maybe?
-
I'm pretty sure v1/2 wrx also have the O2 sensor in the headers on the drivers side, meaning the one in your downpipe would be cat temp

Thats awesome. Good video bro

Have seen a few come through work and they seem to be pretty reliable and drive nice. There is one that was sitting on 570,000 ks last time I saw it and still drove real good haha

Just put it in; Run 98 octane and keep an eye on boost levels, it may overboost, possibly in the higher gears.
If so, you can remedy this.
Been done before, time and time again. This is where you look at an in tank pump upgrade and split fuel rail.
Yeah i agree, my brother has done this mod and if you keep good fuel and plugs in it it will go well. Might jsut have to watch the boost and turn it down a little if you get det. Also a version 1 sti may not be much more aggressive than your current ecu if you have a sedan, a version 2 sti ecu may be a better option?

shouldnt really be a big issue

WRX Version 1/2 specs:

STI Version 1/2 specs:

Looks like they both have 8.5:1CR and a 7000rpm limit, so should be a perfect swap. Just double check that they both use the same injectors? (Version 3 STI, CR changes to 8.0:1 and red line lifts to 7900rpm).
Also if the WRX and the STI use the same boost solenoid and turbo. They could have a different sized restrictor pill in the waste gate line, for the altered boost levels. So you might need the different pill to go with the ECU? You will soon know if you still only get 10.5 psi.
I don\'t think that information is correct as all version 2 sti I\'ve seen have had the 7900 limit and 380cc grey injectors.

Big front mount with the top mount still in use?

No det on 98, they go very well on 98 actually. should get well over 600kms to a tank if you keep stock airbox. DONT put a pod filter on them, seems to stuff up fuel economy badly
If you service them well and keep stockish then they are great little cars, I still really miss mine actually. I had a BZV (the black top with 5speed and LSD)
Thanks for the help! All sounds pretty good to me as I do my own servicing

Had many of these in various different cars, ae82, ae92 , ae85 with blacktop. Good little motors. Blacktop is nice with vvt, had one in my ae85, with open throttle, headers and g4 made 110kw atw, so not huge. But sounded real hot and loved to rev! 50mm trumpets worked well for us, uni filter socks rape power by the way. Things to look out for- the heads up top fill with crap quite badly on the 20v if you dont change the oil enough (more so than other cars), vvt pulley can get noisy but thats ok. 5 speed box is stronger than 6 speed. Stick with blacktop, silvertops are yawnworthy, or get a type R dc2 instead.
Awesome ! thanks man. I would be stoked with 110kw from such a little motor. I actually love NA motors that just seem to rev so that would be good for me. Yeah If I get one it\'d be a black top one since they are pretty much same $. Will keep an eye out for a dc2r aswell.

Here ya go...
If it\'s going to wear a Levin badge it will be high revving, RWD and live axled !
;D
Crude, not that great a handler or that fast but a barrel of fun.

haha maybe if I had 18 k

good cheap cars but you definitely notice the lack of power, i went from a evo to a levin to save money, ended up selling it after 3 months because just felt like going at snail pace couldn\'t overtake trucks and so on and bought the subi after that.... integra is value for money if you get a Dohc Vtec one... in saying that you wouldnt lose as much money on a levin like you would on a subi or a turbo car...
Yeah I\'m not expecting it to be on par with my wrx. I\'ve actually been dailying a very slow 1.5 sentra for about a year now so if it goes quite a lot better than that I think I will be happy. I\'ll have to drive one and see what its like.

All i want to say about them has already been said in other comments. Everything i read I agree with 100%.
I have a BZG (5 Speed) - BZR is normally the 6 speed with a few other special things.
I\'m so bored of mine though, I want a type r coupe
That doesn\'t sound like a good review haha. Have you just got bored of the power?
-
The one I\'m looking at is a black top and yeah they run map sensors which is good Quad throttle bodies is pretty sweet. They sound like their a pretty good car overall to be honest. Whats the reason for preferring the 5 speed?

5 speed box is quite a bit stronger than the 6 speed, however some of the 6 speeds got an LSD which is cool.
If you want to know about the in\'s and out\'s then go ask on ToySpeed.
The blacktops can actually be quite a temperamental engine if not serviced regularly. They can start using a lot of oil with higher kms. Most people on TS would be more comfortable with a high kms silvertop than a blacktop however I have owned both and the blacktop has more of a rush at the top end but doesn\'t really like 98 that much.
Also bare in mind if you plan on turboing it the silvertop is the much better bet as it has stronger rods and lower compression.
I would probably be doing pretty minimal mods to the motor so I think I would prefer 6 gears. As long as they hold up alright with roughly standard power? Asking on toyspeed sounds like a good idea. Did you have trouble with det running 98 with the blacktop? The one I am looking at is fairly low kms so shouldn\'t be too much of a worry. Na this would be staying NA otherwise I would just keep my wrx haha
-
Yeah I\'m actually looking at it as a swap for my wrx

I\'ve been looking at purchasing a bzg Levin with the 20v motor and six speed box and was just wondering peoples opinions on them? How they go and how they are to work on etc. Any experiences with them would be helpful. Thanks guys

What is the difference with facelift ones? I had a look and they had a different size shaft, was this the case with yours?
