  1. Hi all,

I just got another 96 gtb, its had crash damage as my mates partner crashed it into a pole at 50kms, in this incident it pushed the drivers wheel back twisting the lower control arm forcing the steering rack to end up on the other side of the swaybar link snapping that,

im yet to pull the engine yet but suspect that the steering rack has twisted as the steering wheel was pulled down back threw the firewall, now I got most the parts but when it comes to replacing the drivers wheel airbag what do I need exactly??

I got a new wheel and the ecu from under the steering column, Anything else I missed?.

  2. Will try an easy out first but if I was to swap out the head should I use the existing camshafts or the pair that came with the heads? Will measure tomorrow but the markings are the same and im sure there identical anyway

Have the replacement heads been tested for straightness, resurfaced and pressure tested?

Are both heads on the engine stamped 06? Or is there one 06 and one 07 on the other side? All the later model heads I've seen have a different number on each side, like LH 006 $ RH 007.

Yes yes and no, but not too worried, will upload photos tomorrow but the heads on the car have 07 on the top at the rear, heads in shed have 06 in the same plase yet to check bottom on car

  4. Yea but id have to pull out the engine to get into it and would rather just pull the head off and slap another one on as in the long run it would be easier for me, the bolt was still in place as it snapped at the top of the thread, it also loosened the other 1 in the pair but looks to be no damage to camshaft or shims/buckets.

  5. Got a slight ticking noise the other day and as I was board decided to investigate, removed passangers side rocker cover to find that the camshaft retainer bolt snapped off inside the head and as I cant be bothered drilling it out n all the f'in around luckily I have some spare heads sitting in the shed now what I need to know is the markings on the heads are different one's in the car are stamped 07 on the top,the ones I have in the shed are 06. Both from gtbs, can I just replace the one head and reuse the camshafts or do I have to replace both,? Any insight would help, cheers

  6. I wouldn't personally worry about it, Purley cosmetic from what I see, if your that concerned get one from pick a part cheap as chips there.

as far as hearing back from the company good luck unless you go down there and have a face too face but in the end you would be wasting time that could be used to jack up the car and pop the bolt out yourself and replaced, I should have a few bolts laying round if you get stuck,

    Yep do that ^

Modifying the restrictor will be putting in a smaller "pill" in the hose to (or from?) the boost control solenoid, letting it bleed off less air will lower your boost level. (just need something with a tiny orifice, welding tips are a common culprit)

I had the same problem, reused the pill of my gtb when I converted to single, was spiking at 19psi, ended up chuking a .9mm mig tip in and now it sits on a clean 14.5psi now no spikes and very lil to no drop of off at all
