It will be the speakers for sure. Factory speakers are okay when new, but after 14 years the weak foam surrounds will have deteriorated something chronic. I bet the surrounds will fall apart in your hands if u were to take them out.

As has been said you'll be able to pick up a combo pretty cheap if you arent too fussed on high quality stuff. I'd certainly recommend replacing both at the same time, if you can. But if not, do the speakers first.

lol i know about that when i had my 96 rsb! (was about 10 years old whan i had it) foam surrounds had fallen apart!

well ive found out that there is no suitable aftermarket replacement for the rear shocks on a ver8 sti (they do for wrx but not sti) ive also heard that the standard setup in the ver8 sti is superior to some coil over setups mainly the cheaper stuff! not sure exactly what is ment by that but anyways, and that the best solution is to have them rebuit to bilstein specs as they recon that subaru have made them to a similar spec to the bilsteins!!

so im waiting to hear back from a few places on prices so i guess we will have to see what happens!

was a bit supprising to find out that nobody makes a suitable shock for that perticular model! wonder how many other people with ver 8s know this?

  4. to be honest all i would like is to be able to set the ride hight (to what i want then leave it) and to have a similar ride (eg frim but not to frim which it is already firm at the moment!) and thats about it!

im asuming a few prople here have this brand etc so im guessing there a good quality product!

i might pop down to reline today and see whats what

  5. thanks guys for your help and ideas

i might look into the bc adj for the $1500 as i have heard you can replace just the rear shocks with non oem ones for around $800 a set and thats basicly half the price of the whole set of bc adj

so this might sound a little stupid but will the bc adj be an improvement on my standard setup? also is anyone using them and are they any good?

sorry if these are dumb questions!

BC 2 way adjusties for about $2500.. cert $400, allignment $50-$100

lock it and load it...replacement with factory... fark that

that said.. your V8 type ones some times knock in the rear and just need regreasing.. check it out - lotsa threads on here about this very thing.

    might cost you nothing.

ive been told thay they are leaking and need replacing

i was amazed at the cost of it! how could they be so expensive!! 3grand ex japan just for 2 shocks

so you recon 3 grand for adjusties is that all 4? as thats quite impressive considering subaru want 3grand just for 2 rear shocks

  7. ive noticed the rear shock in my v8 sti is knocking and today found out that they need replacing so ok sweet as!

then i asked how much and then they told me ''$1,500''so thats a bit high but ok its an sti, then he said thats just for 1! i was like what!!! are you kidding and no he wasnt kidding so they want $3,000.00 to replace the rear shocks and thats just parts! so im at the moment working out my options so anyone got any ideas ive got a couple ideas

1, get a price from else where to get aftermarket shocks (im guessing someone must do them for less)

2 find out how much it would cost to get an adj setup and replace the fronts too (which i was told are the same price as the rears for a grand total of 6 grand to replace all 4!!!!)

    any help or ideas people
