  1. Dredging up this aging post! Looking for someone in Wellington who can make me a bracket for beers or other such treats.
  2. Soooo.... Ended up buying an Evo 4. Don\'t kill me!
  3. That\'s the one! I wonder what he wants for it. Crap, how am I going to get to Waihi?! Anyone live around there and keen to check it out on behalf?
  4. Nah I was going to txt him last night but saw it was 11:45pm and thought it could wait til the morn\'. Don\'t suppose anyone else grabbed it? I guess it will turn up on trademe or wheedle eventually though
  5. Crap! Trademe took it off already. Looked good!
  6. Nah I didnt buy it. Not completely happy with it. Kind of a shame but Ill get over it. Checking trademe and clubsub everyday for a gem! Hard to find with low kms and non-crappy mods...
  7. Yep was not impressed. Righto then ill drop it in to shred some time this week for a dyno run (and hopefully road test)
  8. 98 V4 coupe done almost 180kms. Engine seemed to idle pretty well, no sucks or chufs. Took it for a spin and it feels like it has a boost issue. Boost starts pulling hard at around 4000rpm and stops pulling at 4500rpm. Engine still revs up to redline but seems pretty sluggish. It has a fancy HKS EVC-S electronic boost controller that is reading 8psi. Could it be possible that this was set incorrectly and this is the reason for the boost cutting out? Owner says it was professionally installed. I quite like the car but obviously don\'t want to buy a lemon. I\'ve got some quotes for some pre-purchase inspections around Wellington but they are super expensive - a big cost that could be for nothing! :-\
  9. Hi guys Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but my Suby does the same. Did anyone find a fix? So far I have replaced the AFM...
  10. OKAY. So heater is now working after a radiator flush - cheers Dacca BUT. Now I've got other issues with the turbos jumping/missing under boost after driving for about 15 minutes. Ill post a new thread over in the Legacy section. Getting a little sick of TTs...
  11. I'm having the same issue! Could be airlock, radiator/heater core blockage. Airlock is common issue on the legacys, need to bleed with the nose raised.
  12. Yeap, did it on the driveway (steep as). Also took off the hose from the filler to the radiator top tank to bleed.
  13. Gents, Having an issue with my 96 gtb. Heater not working and temp gauge rises when going up steep hills. I suspect this is an airlock somewhere in the cooling system. A month ago I had a radiator hose burst, so I replaced it and then just topped the coolant up. Think this was the cause. Heater also worked before then. I've tried flushing the coolant twice, using different methods of bleeding each time, but no cigar. Can't be assed spending another weekend on it. Can anyone recommend a Suby mechanic around Porirua area? Someone who can do a flush properly (because I obviously cant..) If anyone from the forums wants to come and try, there's plenty of beers in it for you! Cheers Scotty
  14. By white smoke you mean steam, right?
  15. Righto Gents, here's the youtube clip. Probably also unrelated, but took it for a drive to town today after replacing the AFM and it drove well. But on the way back, if I gave it some gas, it would splutter and hesitate. Also the heater has stopped working! Have I bought a Suby Lemon?
  16. Sounds like the MAF. My 96 was doing the same thing (not just up hills). Replaced afm with a secondhand one - all good. You need an orange one because it's a gtb. You should be getting a CEL code though - check your CEL bulb?
  17. Thanks guys, Ill get a youtube clip up when the rain stops... could be a while!
  18. I just bought a 96 gtb which has done 139kms. It goes fairly well, but the engine has quite a distinct knock to it at cold idle and also on power. Ive owned 2 legacys before, and none sounded like this. I've read that these GTBs have forged pistons and they slap around a bit. Has anyone else had experience with this? Is it something I should be worried about? :-[ On a side note, I also diagnosed an issue with my air flow meter and have just bought a replacement. I would think this was related though. Cheers
