  1. Hmmm, new radiator is in, oil change done (the old oil looks clean as). Not loosing coolant, but there\'s water/steam coming out the exhuast in huge proportions. Where is it coming from?!
  2. Cheers Guys, JoKer I\'m on the north shore. Yea, going to check the plugs tonight, and try get a compression test done. Is it normal/possible to pass the TK if it is a blown HG? My understanding would be, if it\'s the HG then cylinder fumes have to enter the coolant system and therefore fail the test?
  3. BUMP - Ok guys, really need help now! So, car runs mint, oil is perfect AND it flew through a TK test. Symptoms are; burning coolant and it\'s eventually coming out the exhaust, but it\'s not missing or bubbling out the radiator? I think its the Head Gaskets, but how can I know for sure? If i get under the engine, when I turn it off I can hear it kind off \'breathing\' like air is being sucked into the system... Any thoughts? Please
  4. Cheers man, yea, I think its the thermostat thats gone and the radiators got a leak as a result. The heater isn\'t warm at all, but speaking to my neighbor last night who\'s a mechanic he\'s going to come round tonight and run some tests on it. Be awesome if it\'s something simple
  5. Ok, quick update. Radiator is leaking, and it looks like oil is getting into the coolant. The engine oil still looks new, and it isn\'t bubbling. Is this the head gaskets? Or is there some other way like the intake manifold etc? Really need your help guys
  6. Whats a good price to have my head gaskets replaced? Got quotes ranging from $1100 to $2200. Cheaper isn\'t too bad as most of the seals are all good, and waterpump/everything is fine. Is there anyone on here that would do it/be happy to help me do it? More than happy to pay of course
  7. BUMP - is there anyone on here/know of anyone who\'d be happy to do this? I\'d be keen to help but need someone who\'s done it a few times just to make sure nothing goes wrong. cheers
  8. Cheers Joker, It just doesn\'t seem to be doing anything you\'d expect a Head Gasket to be if it was that, other than the coolant leaking with it appearing out the exhaust. I\'ll have a look at the crossover pipe, presumably I could tell straight away if it was this? cheers
  9. Hey guys, short story is I have a 2L TSR second gen legacy. Drove it yesterday morning and within 10 mins notice the temps up and manage to get home without it getting too hot. Had to refill the entire radiator with water to check for a leak, and unfortunately I could eventually see a tiny bit of steam/water coming out the exhaust. The coolant isn\'t bubbling yet when it\'s running, and it\'s not missing at all. Just want to confirm this is 99% likely to be a head gasket? And that there aren\'t any obvious ways for it to leak at any other point in the system? Had the cambelt done last year, so will likely try and get this fixed. It\'s something I\'d feel I could replace myslef, just don\'t know anyone with an engine hoist/would prefer to pay someone to help for a day to make sure it\'s all good. cheers guys
  10. Cheers man, it was more that neither of them wanted to thread when I put them in. I ended up getting a tap and tidying up the thread, and filed the bolts a bit. Eventually got one started and then the second bit as well
  11. Cheers for the advise guys. Ended up going to pick a part on saturday, managed to find a few parts that had snapped on my car, and even got a new momo steering wheel so will need to fit that. Also found a leggy that had some new looking Nolathane N45440 bushes, which i got both sides for. Put them on and then struggled for a few hours as the control arm bolts didn\'t want to go back in!? Managed to eventually get them going and passed it\'s WOF yesterday now to install that steering wheel
  12. yea, that\'s what I think. Having looked online, i\'ll need to get an alignment check if I replace the control arm? in which case maybe the wreckers isn\'t the cheapest
  13. Thanks Swindog. I\'m not sure if its that one. Yea, was VTNZ. Will inspect the bushing when i get home. Think the wreckers is the way to go
  14. Did the exhaust last night, was just a gasket. It\'s the control arm, inner rear bush that\'s leaking but by the sound of it replacing the whole arm is easiest
  15. Yea, the lower control arm. I think going to the wreckers might be the way to go then, hopefully not too hard to replace
